With the whole 3 team trade being talked about

Let me whip up the old espn trade machine

Dogs trade Dunks to Bombers
Bombers trade Pick 7 to Dogs
Dogs trade Pick 14 to Pies for Treloar
Dogs trade Pick 7 to Geelong for Two First Rounders ( Pick 13 and 15)

Geez that's really letting the bombers off the hook mate. Pick 7 for someone of Dunkley's calibre is probably market value...if he were out of contract.

Also I'm pretty sure both of those Geelong picks would be gobbled up by Ugle Hagan. So we've essentially traded Dunkley for Treloar and subtracted 500k from our available salary cap.

I keep harping on about this but seriously we don’t even need to deal with crows. We’ve got so much interest in our pick we can create a bit of a bidding war and ship it to the highest bidder. All we have to do at a minimum is make sure we swap our first rounder next year with another team and that way when we go into deficit next year that first rounder is safe and we can just use late picks this year and next to bid and we still take a first rounder into next years draft.

What are we doing with 12 in this scenario?

Even if the pies pay a 150-200k of his contract..?

5 year deal that apparently ramps up at the back end. Unless the pies can contribute every year it’s going to get ugly. The star young blokes we drafted are as good as Treloar. Some team (probably bloody Essendon) will throw cash at them we can’t match if we bring him in on that money.

I guess it just depends what’s actually on offer, my first preference would be use to it to bring in experience (I.e Stephenson/Treloar) but doesn’t seem like there’s a lot going round to use it on. Second preference would be push it to next year. If there’s really no way of doing that then my least preferred option would be to use it on JUH. Still good for us to hopefully clear the bid for him pretty much all in Pick 12 but it’s a rare opportunity to be able to effectively use pick 12 to improve the list/give us a very strong 2021 draft hand while also bringing in a top end talent for effectively a couple of later picks across this year and next.

While I'd love for Dodo to continue on and lead the Dons into a new decade of failure, this constant strain on my sanity every second October/November is just too much to bear, so let us hope this is our last time dealing with that monobrowed used-car salesman with cobweb tattoos on his elbows.

I think the deal gets done, but I'm still in two minds about what the final swap will be. A part of me says something close to 7 and Tippa. The other says a future 1st and a smattering of Jamarra picks. Yeah, no one wants picks, but we must remember that that's what our club and current list is successfully built on, not two fleeting weeks of dopamine boosts one gets from 'winning' trade week. We are only talking about Treloar's salary because we need to lock in players like Bont, Naughton and Macrae, players we drafted and developed into some of the best in the game. Otherwise, we'd be Ken Bruce-spending like the Dons are

Not completely happy with either deal I've listed, and I'd want more for a contracted, top 50, 23 yr old premiership midfielder, but the Bulldog supporter in me is still scarred by a litany of capitulations of years gone by. This deal will be fascinating, as we finally have a list manager with some cojones, thus I can't wait to see where our club values ourselves in the dominance hierarchy. We've just had a red n black baboon screech down from the trees and fling some sh*t at us: how we respond will determine our standing in the pack moving forward.

I have faith in Power, but a desperate, scheming Dodo, staring down the barrel of the Centrelink queue is a real test.

In actuality, Dunks is our 5th best midfielder. So while I will be happy if he's playing for us next year, I'll be equally happy if he leaves and we improve our position - whether by quality players this year or in next year's Superdraft. That's all Power has to do - stand firm to improve our list. I have no reason to believe he won't at this point.

Ok... so if an attractive offer is not forthcoming from Essendon for Dunkley...
This is what I'd do...

Keep Dunkley and play him as Ruck Rover swapping Interchange.

Do we target Treloar if Dunks stays put? We’re already struggling to give everyone midfield minutes and if anything that probably lowers his value again next year. But if Treloar really is as cheap as we think then it’s still a good opportunity and we have to look past next year and if Dunks leaves anyway then we still have Treloar for another 4 or so years. Interesting times personally I dunno what to do 😂 I think I only want Treloar if Dunks goes and I think I’d rather that at this stage but I can’t see Dodo coming to the party so I think he stays. Powers really got his work cut out either way next week. Really intriguing to see how he handles this.

Love it. I can’t see why Libba couldn’t spend more time forward and swapping with Dunks. Blokes a tackling machine and a lovely kick for goal. Bont more forward too And then Dunks gets more midfield minutes. But in saying that - I still think it’s all about the money for Dunks even if we could give him the mid time he wants.

Except for those 4 earlier posts :). But a lot of water (or maybe not much!) has flowed under the bridge since 1217.

Some good points in this one.

I’m certain Power will be listening to all offers for pick 14 and will do whatever deal benefits us the most. We are not boxed into trading with Adelaide in any way

Yeah if a club really wants it they would offer ~240 more points than the Crows. I kind of hope they do bid with pick 1, would be great for the club and marketing

Might be grounds to cancel a membership but that's about it I'd think.
I know nothing about these things, but is it legal do to this hurtful sh*t? Can it be a police or private suing matter?

I’d chip in to hire a lawyer and chase the w***er. There need to be more consequences. If you did this stuff in real life there would be violence. Not that I’m condoning violence , I hate it, but I’d love this fella to meet up with Billy in the boxing ring for 3 rounds.

Two points. Can’t see how Treloar gets to us considering salary cap impacts. Secondly can’t see how bombers satisfy us iro draft picks considering the JUH situation and their need to deal with others (Carlton, Port etc.) first.

Therefore I’m concluding the only way Dunkley trade goes through is if Merrett comes to us.
