Can’t believe Green got out to that pull shot twice in a row, normally murders them.

All things considered a decent start to his career. Biggest things for him to work on seems to be finding singles more often (it was an ‘issue’ at state level as well).

Think the things stopping him from being a superstar will be
- Injury
- Tendency to fall over or play in front of his pads to get LBW.
- Being used as a 5th bowler in an incredible test attack that doesn’t always give an opportunity.

As someone who’s followed him since his WA debut I can’t wait to see how his career unfolds

You wouldn't burden him with it given he has to bowl but he does seem to have the temperament and defensive technique for it.

Think he'll end up at 4 or 5 unless he stops bowling.
I have known of him but don’t really know much about him. Regarding his bowling, does he offer much that is different from what our other three fast bowlers provide? In the short sample it feels like more of the same, although at his height he could extract some extra bounce. The ideal in an all rounder for me is someone who can mix it up with swing or spin, either directly or by allowing the selectors to play one less specialist quick.

Will be very interesting to see him bat in a situation where he is coming in with the others having put some runs on the board. Does he usually bat out of his crease to the quicks, or was it something he was trying to prevent LBW? Seemed to create some problems for himself against top line fast bowlers which they exploited.

He's bowled some decent outswing for WA. In tests he's probably not bowled early enough when the ball is still doing something. Suspect in England or NZ he'd probably get some movement and with the bounce that's dangerous. He's not going to bowl a lot outside of roads because our fast bowlers are so good. Think he has enough talent to open the bowler at test level but not sure that will ever be his role.

I hope he works on reverse swing so he is a threat in the SC. Watto got good at that and it was great (when he wasn't injured).

Not sure about batting out of the crease but plenty of players have/still do that.

The 70s guys would have given away so many free kicks by half-time, not even Jezza could get them back into it.

Yep, the 70’s players would have given away a lot of free kicks, but when they gave those free kicks away, ....... they made sure that player “earnt” the free. A lot of modern players would be struggling, after getting a couple of “clips behind the ear”.

Obviously, the modern day footballers are 200% fitter, but are they tougher ?.

No interchange, midfielders play 100+ minutes. Mmmmm, maybe I’d back Cable to outrun players like Neale / Ablett.

Not to mention a guy like Peter McKenna not missing set shots from inside 50.

I know AFL rule changes suck, but at least they have yet to find a way to give ladder points to a team that just got belted.

Can’t say this frustrates me as much as the AFL changing interpretations of rules for no reason.

The thing cricket boards have been able to do in the past, which the AFL can’t do, is admit when something is sh**e.

I’m convinced the Bash Boost will be gone, if not changed to a more fair system by the beginning of next season.

anybody keen to start a new thread for 2021?
I did 2020 & we all know what a crap year that was.

Toupee Rick would love nothing better than to injure a Freo player and would instantly solidify his legendary status around the 7West studios.

The way our premiers are wetting the bed every time someone gets a sniffle, what makes you all so sure we won't be in hubs again this year?

I certainly expect it. I am more afraid of the government reaction to the virus than the virus itself.

I've seen a few 2021 prediction threads on the main board, is there anywhere to discuss this on the freo board?

I umpired Wick in the ammos one time. Mouthy as for a bloke who couldn't play.
I will just stick up for him a bit here, I played in his Ammos team off and on for a couple of years. Whilst he was mouthy and wasn't real skilled (mostly played full back - think Zac Dawson), he was a really great teammate and always gave heaps of encouragement. I'm only just 6 foot and I remember one game I had to fill in as ruck against this monster bloke (would have had at least 25kg and 5 inches on me), every centre bounce I could hear him pushing me to jump and it was probably the only thing that kept me going. I can understand oppo and umpires not liking him though.
