FFS give it a rest.

We know that Pendlebury, Dangerfield, Martin and co just want to get through injury free but we don’t have many rep standard players who can cruise and then turn it on when the big games come up.
Calm down buddy.

It was a practice match where we had the Brown brothers and Cameron as our centre bounce players at times. Get some perspective.

The players might not take a step back, but the coaching makes a big difference in these games.

So going to try nothing to new at the Moment then?
There are plenty of other players who could be regarded as new, who aren’t first years. Henry, Ruscoe and Murphy all in the mix with a handful of games between them. 3 injections of inexperience is probably the most you’d want heading in to round 1.

To provide context JT was, IMO, below Brown coming out of 2020. Their output was similarly meh, but at least with Brown you could say he’s still building. Basically my expectations were very low.

Today I liked what he did off the ball and how he worked up the field more. He wasn’t super busy, but he had a couple of nice involvements. That to me very much exceeded my expectations. It’s also not something I’d expect him to be hyped up over.

Apples I also didn’t see it with Sier. I’d be shocked if he got more than 3 clear possessions and whilst he probably got a bit of that messy in close stuff none of it impacted the game. It was neither a step forward or back for me and I’m likewise intrigued by people rating his performance.

Are any of T Brown, C Brown or J Thomas more deserving of a Rd1 spot than Sier? Or likely to be more impactful?

On the subject of Sier, what pleased me about him today was that he was noticeably more physical at stoppages. He didn’t have a fabulous game by any means, but he was willing to get in and take a hit/get his hands dirty, which is frankly more than he’s done at any point in his career in that respect up to this point. I’m used to seeing him skirting packs and not using his size, so it was refreshing to see him more involved from that perspective.

On Henry, I liked what I saw. I’m probably not willing to go as far as Scodog10 in saying he’ll surpass Stephenson, but I was impressed, and thought he didn’t look out of place at either end of the ground. Early days, but the signs are good.

Just hope not keep trying player like Thomas and Trying the Younger Guys instead

We are well aware of the circumstances surrounding the hit out. It was well debated. Your acumen on matters footy are nowhere near where you think it is.

I don’t know who you played for but I never heard a member of the coaching staff, or a non senior player, say ‘I don’t give a rat’s’. A younger player’s meaningful senior career could rest on him taking advantage of opportunities provided at this time of year, before the big boys are all playing full minutes and are serious.

WTF are you on about? You're certainly angry for some reason.

Thanks for being so knowledgeable, I bow to your superior opinion.

The point you are so emphatically missing is that the coaches try different things during these games. They aren't coaching to win. This is pretty evident when players spend entire halves off the ground.

None of us were unaware that it was a scratch hit out and if anyone was you brought it to their attention ... time after time after time ....

[Cameron is 25, he needs to be making every post a winner.]

Yeah, and these aren't regular first year players, they're ones who missed an entire year of development. Plenty of time to add them.

The Brown Brothers are a good wine

Probably as much a 👎 on Stephenson as a 👍 on Henry.

Yeah, I had JT in before today despite being down on him mainly because of his role. T Brown perhaps and C Brown no. For mine there was nothing in it between Sier and T Brown today. I don’t think that’ll change by round 1 so I’m not fussed which way they go.

C Brown though is a long way back for me looking at today’s game in isolation with Henry, WHE, Elliott and Ruscoe all hitting the scoreboard (8 of our 11 goals). I don’t know how he’s in the frame or what he adds if he is. IMO, he’s behind all of the guys I’ve touched on plus JDG, Adams and Mayne...

You don’t need new players to try something new. T Brown and Sier likely to come in to the best 22 as well, so along with Howe and Sidebottom returning. Ruscoe hit the scoreboard so he has put his hand up for a recall. It sounds like Noble spent some time on the wing too.

Probably as much a [emoji107] on Stephenson as a [emoji106] on Henry.

Have to agree with all you said there.

Still... I won’t be surprised at all if Cal Brown is named for Round 1.

My starting forward 6 for Round 1 would be Checkers, Cox, Elliott, Henry, Thomas and one of DeGoey or Sidebottom with those two rotating into the middle.

If Kelly is fit, then JT or Henry to start on the bench and I’d consider Ruscoe on the bench as well.

Everyone to their own opinions you are welcome to yours.

The good news is, with about 11 first year players on the books this year, the odds are improved that one or two of them might be able to make an immediate impact.

In recent years we haven’t had enough young players coming through on the list. We definitely overshot this year so hopefully our injury list doesn’t go too deep. Maybe in coming years we will get the balance right.

Speaks well, great reader of the play, he would be in the mix, but for me . Taylor Adams, bullocks his way to where Angels fear to tread, Adams is the Man you want in the bunker. will always have your back
Yeah I reckon they have Tay pencilled in to replace Scott in 10 years as Darcy cheekily said.
