Autopsy Pre season V Richmond

He's copped season ending or months on the sidelines injuries in his last two senior appearances. It's just beyond belief how our club continues to pick players who are stuck together with sticky tape.
To be fair, most players would have been injured just the same by that knee from Grimes. At the time I thought it looked unnecessary and intended to hurt his opponent. I still do. Part of the reason Richmond are so successful is because they play dirty but within the rules. Kelly is an unlucky boy.

Nice to play FOOTY after months of watching the club piss around playing GAMES.

Some good signs, it was a practice game after all. If only the defensive strategies could be more quickly switched to attack...look dangerous at times when Jekyll Hyde is applied.

Some complaining abt umpires. Stop it. Pies have had a pretty good free fors rate recently and continued last night. It's pathetic reading this excuse when our future is in our own hands.

I thought we were much better in the second half obviously. The first half was nothing to write home about, except defensively, we were good.
Encouraging was the performance of Q and Daicos, that Howe played well, Sier was good, JDG was our BOG and looks like he is in for a big year, barring injury. Coxy and Cameron looked good in that second half. We need to see more of that Coxy marking up forward and around the ground, that we saw in that second half. Grundy was completely dominant in that last quarter and needs to take that form into round 1. I thought T Brown looked promising again and is building nicely along with Henry. Both will play round 1. C Brown has the ball winning ability, but lacks game awareness. He continually puts teammates in horrible positions with his disposal at times. To me his hands or feet react before he actually thinks about what he will do with the footy. If he can fix this, he will be a very good player. He is 50/50 for round 1 in my mind.
Interesting year for our footy club, and particularly for Bucks. Personally l think if Bucks was going to stay on as senior coach in 2022, that in his own mind he will want to be going deep into a finals series. If we just fall into the 8 and make a elimination final, and get bundled out, l don't think he will stay on as senior coach, and he will make that call himself before the club does. If we don't make the 8, then we will definitely be looking for a new coach for 2022. On what l saw yesterday, its only a practice match, and its hard to get a form line, but if l was asked now where l think we finish 2021, l wouldn't say top 4, a shot for top 6, but more likely 7 to 10th.
I thought we got smashed in the centre clearance, again we lost Sidey and had no Adams. I think the Tigers had over 60 inside 50's, which is way too many. Our forward line looked completely non potent, until Coxy and Cameron started clunking a few. Again this may completely turnaround season proper, and the two grand finalists from last season we lost to both by a kick in our pre season games. Some hopeful signs, but l fear we maybe a bit short against the top 5 to 6 sides in the comp...

Move WHE down back... try something because he has been a liability forward for a long long time

I would play him on a wing, or floating between wing and HFF, not inside forward 50. He is rangy, can run and dispose of the footy well. Use him as the link to get the footy inside F50. Right now he is a non factor up forward.

I think Cameron can really play.
He seems a strong mark and a competitor.
He just needs to be given a good shot at it. Problem is that Cox Mihocek and Cameron may not be able to play together. So, I’d give Cameron a start over Cox for a few rounds

all due to personnel imo. First half putrid, then cue in the rack for tigers after half time. Cotchin and Grimes on ice. Richmond couldnt kick straight, otherwise wouldve still been a 6 goal win for them. Training run.

We're great tacklers and handballers... but cannot kick for sh*t. So many turnovers.

Dont think Madgen or C Brown can play round 1. Play Murphy ffs. Grundy needs to be better. Pendles nearing his end.

Quaynor & De Goey great. & if we didnt have Elliott, Crisp and Maynard, we would be competing for the spoon.
The annual Pendles is done comment

As a pre-season game, why didn’t Bianco get at least half a game?

what did the coaches actually learn about him last night???
So dumb but that is stock standard Collingwood. Have multiple blokes taken off through injury and you make one bloke ride the pine for four quarters. Unless he was injured in the warm up it makes no sense

So, for a preseason game running some players who would normally play but for last year, a handful coming back from injury etc and being....well a preseason game.... not too bad a showing.

Beaten is a preseason game by a goal by last years Premiers.
How you feeling Aussiepie?
Like a complete twat?

Harden the fu** up and support your club.

******* armchair experts.
and in last weeks game 1 point against the runners up

Does anyone know why Bianco and Greenwood got zero game time? Seems strange to name them and not play them, especially after we copped some injuries.

Possibly decided that they'd be better served playing a full game of a VFL practice match? Although surprised neither got a run once a Sidebottom/Kelly went off.

Mate Sidey played less then 5 minutes. Bianco especially once he had come off you are better off giving him that exposure against the better players.

You are kidding. Cox has proven himself a match winner or game changer. Cameron is good, but has never grabbed a game by the throat like Cox has done. Last night Cox again turned the game when he started clunking the pill. He set up a number of goals too. Cox is best 22 every week, especially now when we lack a potent target.

Love to be proven wrong, but we cannot have him and Hoskin Elliott inside fifty. That is so butter soft I cringe thinking about it.

Agree. Play Ruscoe and not WHE. If Ruscoe can’t deliver to expectations we have a known quantity in WHE to assess who is best.

WHE isn’t going to change now.... there’s still a chance for Trey.

It’s going to be a long year our inability to score is a huge concern still. We have nobody forward of centre who you can have any confidence in
our inablilty to score against the best two defensive teams in the comp and lose by a combined 7 points ? if that's the bench mark then we have another 15 teams that we beat whilst adjusting to the new game plan by years end.

I thought we were ok last night, especially 2nd half although there is a question of Richmond easing off.

Our defence remains our strong area. Moore, Maynard and Crisp are in their prime and IQ is exciting. Our best young talent. Wonder if he can transition to the midfield over time. Great to have Howe back.

Midfield is the worry for me. Sidey doing a calf at 30 rings alarm bells, with Adams also tending to soft tissue injuries losing either or both for a while will be a problem. De Goey looks primed and hopefully a full season with that mid forward mix makes him our brightest light. Sier and T Brown can become players I think but more support than main players. Cal is less likely, needs to improve back to what he looked like in 2019. Daics was solid, need him to build on last season

Pendles is slowing a bit, why wouldn't he at 33. Premature to worry too much but he should be a cameo mid at this stage of his career not the main man. Bar Mundy, who is a freak and is surrounded by a better bunch of young mids than we have, he is the oldest full time mid in the comp. This is likely his last season in that role, will be interesting to see where we can transition him to. Unfortunately he does have goal nous so cant do what Ablett did or Dusty does.

Without De G full time we lack fire power up forward. I think Cox and Mihochek can be competent and if they both can manage 30 goals we will be ok. Kelly hopefully can have a big 2nd half of the season. Small forwards we lack, Elliott isnt the traditional small but will be really important

Henry did ok for his lack of footy last 12 months and stepping up in intensity from last weeks match. Not sure I would play him yet but he has shown a bit. VFL to build confidence and craft might be wise. We have a tough start and HFF can be a tough gig if we struggle.

We are roughly looking like expected. We have lost 3 best 22 and havent replaced them. Thats likely to leave us exposed this season. We do look a 6-10 range team

I concur. It was unecessary by Grimes in a practice match, but that is why Richmond have three premierships...

10 AFL games to his career...yeah probs why he has never taken a game by the throat lol

Nah. Grimes eyes only for the ball, is entitled to fly for it. No malice. Kelly was brave but going back with the flight always poses a risk
