If Tommy Mac is back, which of Melican or Brand kicks the Dew?
Assuming that we don't go 3 talls, I'd retain Melican over Brand.
I'm still hopeful McCartin & Melican can fill our two KPD posts into the future.

I thought Brand was decent last week, but matched up on Burgess/Corbett, whereas Melican was on King.
Now King clearly won the match up, but I felt Melican lacked support.
Too often King went deep and we did nothing to cut off his leading space or put pressure on the ball carrier.
Previous week I thought Melican had a good game v GWS.

I'd still like Melican to work on his positioning and play more forward shoulder than start behind, particularly with the way the umpires are adjudicating the game.
I think even the best defenders are struggling in one on one match-ups as virtually no leeway is given to the backman.

Brand isn’t much at all , he goes for McCartin

Gould for hewett as a 3/4 tall that can come across and help McCartin that can rebound and let Dawson attack more

He is a true defender unlike hewett

I'm happy for a defender to come in for Hewett, I'd go COR though rather than debut Gould against the Cats. Let Gould back it up. If we're worried about only 2 key defenders, then we'd probably keep Brand in. Agree that makes us a bit slow, but I don't think Gould is zippy.

There's also another player than can float in and intercept, but people get angry if you mention them in defence.

I was also under the impression that the caps meant a 'non-contact' player (eg not to be tackled etc) and not necessarily passed fit to play at this point. :worried:
I thought fluro cap but Hickey and Franklin are not wearing any cap

Shock inclusion wait for it this week or next week he is doing match simulation.

So are we all of a sudden going to go from being the most conservative club in the AFL to playing injured players when there is nothing to be achieved by it ? Seems like a pattern emerging on what we seen last week. Not saying Hickey is going to play but some selections last week go against the Swans grain.
