Anyone interested in having a gander at Ollie in action, here ya go.
Last Saturday's game
#20 Red Team Ollie Davis
#39 Red Team Darcy Gardner a 2021 draft chance maybe.
Then go look at his 2 NAB League games against this year draftees from the Calder Cannons and Eastern Ranges. The standard looks awful. The touches on paper look good but really you can see why Hamish got seduced with Chayce Jones - using the playing against men argument is a very loose one.
A lot of the talk around Chayce being well ahead of his peers however was that he played against men. At the time Hamish said this a few times. Then go look at his 2 NAB League games against this year draftees from the Calder Cannons and Eastern Ranges.
Nobody got seduced by Chayce Jones' TSL football, he got selected off of a dominant U18 Championships against his peers. (All Australian team starting midfielder with Sam Walsh)
That's your take anyhow.A lot of the talk around Chayce being well ahead of his peers however was that he played against men. At the time Hamish said this a few times.

Mentioned it draft night
If we finish 16th or 17th is pick 2 or 3 too early for Roberts at this stage assuming Horne is gone after a Daicos bid? I know we don’t mind going local a little earlier if you use the pedlar pick as an exampleTalking of classy ball using midfielders I rate Matty Roberts' foot skills to be better than those of Jason Horne, Roberts left foot is very close to elite.
If Roberts has a big nationals, then he may be right in there for selection at pick 3 is my guess. Ideally we hope that a number of the vic mids perform at the nationals and it might then muddy the waters on where clubs value certain playersIf we finish 16th or 17th is pick 2 or 3 too early for Roberts at this stage assuming Horne is gone after a Daicos bid? Still a bit early but Roberts is certainly already in the top half dozen or so you would think. If we finish 16th or 17th is pick 2 or 3 too early for Roberts at this stage assuming Horne is gone after a Daicos bid? This is the only way I see us potentially getting HorneIf Roberts has a big nationals, then he may be right in there for selection at pick 3 is my guess. Ideally we hope that a number of the vic mids perform at the nationals and it might then muddy the waters on where clubs value certain players
From what I've read - 183cm, pure midfielder, neat left footer, that can kick goals.Talking of classy ball using midfielders I rate Matty Roberts' foot skills to be better than those of Jason Horne, Roberts left foot is very close to elite.
Fair effort by the Panthers if Horne and Roberts were taken in the top three. If Roberts has a big nationals, then he may be right in there for selection at pick 3 is my guess. Couple of WA lads might muddy the water too, tall mid Matthew Johnson played his 1st WAFL League on the weekend. This is the only way I see us potentially getting Horne
Arlo Draper is a big 1st round chance too.Fair effort by the Panthers if Horne and Roberts were taken in the top three.
And add Arlo Draper to a group that might be top 10 in the draft too!!!!Fair effort by the Panthers if Horne and Roberts were taken in the top three.
I'd class him as a genuine mid/forward personally, not aware of his testing times but he's one of those players that has great spacial awareness and he's certainly not slow. From what I've read - 183cm, pure midfielder, neat left footer, that can kick goals.
I would be happy with that for our first rounder this year.
Does he have pace?

But in saying all that, he would surely have to be a way behind Horne purely as he is still playing junior level whereas Horne has not only been playing Seniors at SANFL but has cracked the state side?I'd class him as a genuine mid/forward personally, not aware of his testing times but he's one of those players that has great spacial awareness and he's certainly not slow.
Closing fast...But in saying all that, he would surely have to be a way behind Horne purely as he is still playing junior level whereas Horne has not only been playing Seniors at SANFL but has cracked the state side?
That's who I want. He can absolutely lead your midfield for 15 years.Talking of classy ball using midfielders I rate Matty Roberts' foot skills to be better than those of Jason Horne, Roberts left foot is very close to elite.
AFL Academy Coach Tarkyn Lockyer's pre-season take on who he considers the the top prospects. Not in any particular order.
