The image still riles me up today, and I am on the other side of the world.

I believe the Israeli's promptly tore down the wall behind them so that the Palestinians could not utilise it as a political shrine to the dead kid (he was killed for those not in the know).

You can see how people can be driven to homicidal intentions, then waltzing on to a public bus with 5kgs of C4 & a few kgs of nails strapped to their bodies.

100 per cent agree. I'd almost forgotten about that image until you posted it and the visceral impact it has when you see it. That poor terrified little boy, and his Dad too, just doing what any father would and trying to protect his son, equally terrified, Gut wrenching.

Even the videos like Val linked above of some the settlers just walking into people's homes and turfing their stuff out onto the street and saying oh we own this now, our God says so.

That's justification for a violent response if you know the so called court/legal system isn't going to help you.

No, but the default position will be similar to Washington’s stance.

Scotty's religion takes his view way beyond Biden's fairly straight up pro Israel for political reasons stance.

Yea, but I was also thinking it’s been the default position of the party for a while now.

Bipartisan as can be seen in Penny Wong's comments.

Greens are the only ones that are outwardly pro-Palestinian.

Probably just me, but I am not sure why we have to be pro in favour of one side or the other. You can highlight the legitimate grievances of one side and empathise with the other. Nothing with the Arab-Israeli conflict, and its history, is black and white. All the historical nuance has seeped out of all the discussions.

Well this is awkward…a lot of military top brass sign letter stating Biden was not elected legitimately.

letter in question.

Thing that amazes me is that for all we venerate the Anzacs, we don't seem to care too much about their stunning military successes there.

Beersheeba gets a run now ands then, but more due to the novelty of being the last great successful cavalry charge.

But yeah, you're right - why should we care about some ancient religious/ethnic blue on the other side of the world?

Melbourne having such a large and politically prominent Jewish population probably explains a bit lol.

Actually, the military top brass didn't, and they've criticised it.

This is a bunch of retired Fox News granddads.

And they’d have to feel completely helpless. Apart from the vary rare criticism of Israel from a random politician there is no consequence. They’re on their own. The world watches shakes its head and says how terrible and then go about it’s day.

There’s been a few protests around the world but nothing like what we saw after George Floyd was murdered. I wonder if there was massive world wide demonstrations it would force the politicians hands?

Doubt it.

Europe conducted an organised methodical industrialised genocide of its Jews within (albeit fading) living memory.

There's no political will to actually confront that guilt/reality, especially not when the likes of Le Pen are a good shout of winning the French Presidency.

To be fair it got squeezed out in one big go once the Israeli far right offed Rabin.

Sorry misplaced an ex there but still point remains that letter makes the country more dangerous then what happened at the Capitol.
There’s a hell of a lot of four stars and loyalty there, that you can’t ignore..

But yeah, people going all in on any one investment are straight up fools. Especially if it's all in on crypto
This also happened this morning-

This token was I think top 15 or so traded coins in the last week. Lots of gamblers going in on it, pushing the price up and clogging the ethereum network, which pushed up transaction fees.
The devs of Shiba used ethereums creator's wallet to lock away 50% of their total supply by gifting it to him. This morning he sent it all to the India covid relief crypto fund (it was $1B usd worth I think) which led to a liquidity shortage, so I think this one is dead in the water now.

That's what people get chasing the 1000x returns on ponzi coins tho *shrug*

Meh, old soldiers saying the world has gone to shit is old as the hills.

They were sitting on their farms in Gaul in 0AD talking about how this Augustus kid is full of crap and Rome would be sacked by barbarians soon.

What matters is what the military DID in January and that was very plain they don't believe this patent bullshit about stolen elections, because for all their various crimes abroad, the US military leadership are not idiots.

Only imbeciles believe this crap.

For a highly militarised and civilian weaponised nation, these comments are naive as hell…

There is an element of race war about this but the US military knows alot more of their grunts are black, latino or some other minority than used to be.

It's ****ing tragic. And a theme in every conflict throughout the history of mankind-- if you think too much about it, the despair from the knowledge of so many innocent people dying can be overwhelming. Yours and Snake's posts remind me of one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite novel series:

"'Children are dying.' 'That's a succinct summary of humankind, I'd say. Who needs tomes and volumes of history? Children are dying. The injustices of the world hide in those three words.'"

not sure how much truth there s to it but as a young man i was told a story that at the end of ww2 the Australian gov offered the top half of WA to the Jews to create the nation of Israel but they wanted the holy lands instead.
