FB: Hurn H.Andrews R.Laird
HB: Lever S.May C.Daniel
C: S.Walsh Bontempelli McCluggage
HF: D.Martin J.Riewoldt T.Greene
FF: L.Ryan T.Hawkins. S.Bolton
Foll: Gawn, Oliver, Petracca.

Int: J.Steele, C.Cameron, Zorko. Shuey.

I am assuming you are either a) a parody account or b) have never watched an AFL game.

Literally about half of this team - Hurn, Riewoldt, Bolton, Cameron, Shuey, Daniel, Ryan, Zorko - has no business being near the squad of 40 let alone the AA team.

Nah Zorko is definitely a chance for the squad

You didn't quote all of their post.

Don't they insinuate that it's not based on form, but more how they like the game to be played ? Clearly, it's not a ''probable'' team.

Been a couple of weeks.
B: Weitering May Lever
HB: Stewart Andrews Salem
C: McLuggage Oliver Walsh
HF: Petracca Franklin Bont
F: Greene McKay Naughton
R: Gawn Parish Mundy
Int: Macrae Miller Wines Rich

OUT: Martin, Boak, Starcevich, Walker
IN: Weitering, Wines, Franklin, Miller

Did some ramming to force Miller in there. Backline is pretty damn difficult right now.

That defence is too top heavy. You cannot have Weitering, May, Lever, Andrews and Stewart in there. Think overall it could do with an additional burst of speed.

FB Lever Weitering Stewart
HB Salem May Rich
C Walsh Wines Macrae
HF Petracca Hawkins Bontempelli
FF Greene McKay Tex
R Gawn Oliver Parish
I Dale Miller Steele Zorko

I hate putting Bont in the forwardline when he's been the best midfielder in the comp this year, but the lack of deserving forward options this year makes it really hard. I think that the midfielders have been a mile above this year, and it's hard to leave any out.

Yeah but it’s not particularly easy right now. There’s a lot of questions about a lot of half backs. The closest in my mind is actually Hind but I still dunno if that will even happen. Dale and Hind probably closest.

Very strange year.

I'd go something like:

FB: Stewart May Lever
HB: Dale Weitering Rich
C: Walsh Steele Macrae
HF: Greene Walker Petracca
FF: Hawkins McKay McDonald-Tipungwuti
R: Gawn Bontempelli Oliver

IC: Wines Miller Parish Salem

Next handful would be: Mills, Andrews, Zorko, Libba, Merrett, Boak, Bruce, King, Laird, Lyons. Then there's Grundy/Darcy who could get a look in if they opt for two rucks.

Couple of points:
- Not intending bias with Melb players, but think Salem deserves to be there besides the five that are appearing in most people's teams. He's been elite off HB.
- Andrews will likely make it over Weitering factoring in team success (for better or worse).
- Would've loved to squeeze Mills in as Sydney should get a nom, but it's a testament to how even they are across the park at least.
- Probably too midfield-heavy, but couldn't split them and there were no other real standouts up forward to plug in.

Can you not read? I didn't say it was an AA team. Geez some people are thick. But this team would beat any AA team listed on any given day.

All of them have said he needs to be more damaging to be considered amongst Bontempelli, Martin, Dangerfield. That's not "Darcy Parish isn't damaging".

Seriously, if he weren't damaging he wouldn't be 4th in score involvements in the AFL, and a total of TWO midfielders would have more goal assists than him. It's pretty clear you've taken a set against Parish and are twisting what people say to suit that argument.

As I said, congrats on keep on putting up this stuff despite being so terribly wrong pretty much the entire time.

And the award for worst post in the thread goes to...
You think your team would beat my team? Highly unlikely. I justified all of my selections. You get wrapped up in the media movement and following other peoples articles.

Also, Oliver also has the same number of score involvements as Parish. It doesn't mean he isn't a sh!t kick. Or do you think Oliver is a good kick?

That's not what the All Australian team is. It's the best players for that year. Which all of Parish, Stewart, McKay (this one takes the cake, honestly), Walker, McDonald-Tipungwuti are in. I mean, you have Shannon Hurn, who many West Coast supporters have as barely best 22 anymore, Shuey has played 3 games this year and is All Australian? You reference Caleb Daniel over three midfielders as if he's competing with them for a spot instead of Stewart (who's been better), Salem (also better), Rich (oh, look at that, also better) and put Laird in the back pocket when he's been Adelaide's best midfielder this year...

No, he doesn't. Last I checked 121 is more than 120, right? And Oliver is one of the most damaging players in the game, not sure what you're trying to prove with that comparison, other than further embarrassment.

If your main gripe is about how the team is selected, whatever, create a thread about that. This is about who's going to make the side based on how they've played this year in comparison to their peers for that particular position.

errr..when did I say my team was All-Australian? I specifically said in the post that it wasn't what the AA team would be but its a team that I think is much better on any given day if I had to choose a team.

wow 121 is more than 120. wow. just wow. For analysis sake, its the same. Jesus Christ. Or do you want me to bloody break it down further to say that Essendon have kicked more goals this year so as a % of total team score, Oliver provides a higher % of score involvements. Jesus

If you want to whinge about how the All Australian side is selected, go make a thread about it. Seriously, your tantrum has been entertaining but not really the point of the thread.

And yes, it is. For analysis sake 121 is still more than 120, that's how maths works. You didn't say "Oliver has virtually the same amount of score involvements", you said he has the same amount. Which he doesn't. Do you need me to dumb it down any more? And yeah, you could make that argument, it's a valid one, but it's hardly debating two fringe players in the side, if the side was selected tomorrow, both would probably start on ball.

I pretty much have no issue with you saying Oliver has been better than Parish both over his career and this year, because he has. Oliver is a fantastic player and one of the most damaging midfielders in the game and will be duly rewarded with an All Australian selection as well as a decent crack at the Brownlow.

Franklin? Wtf are you smoking

Zach Merrett is having an astonishingly good year. Like, top top shelf. Yes, I know I’m an Essendon fan blowing his trumpet but I can’t separate he and Parish this year. His disposals aren’t just dicky little backwards and sideways passes either. They are generally damaging and to the team’s advantage, thrusting forward.

There is always a midfield logjam but the way he is being overlooked for the 22 here just doesn’t gel with me.
