Hi guys,

the live Draft thread is now open here.

McRae is also a good chance to be prelisted with Hawthorn when they come in, which would be the decision behind joining them too. She cracks in for a good full season of VFLW and they could add her prior to the draft next year (if they come in the year after).

Her numbers are definitely better than her VFLW numbers. But when you're a team at the bottom of the ladder, it can hurt you. There are some good talents at Gippsland that seem to have fallen under the radar, Grace Matser, Matilda Van Burkle (Who has been highly rated by AFL Draft Central in the past), and Grace McRae.
Looking away from numbers, all 3 of those are pretty on the radar in relation to their ranking, none are world beaters but have their own strengths, Matser is one that's been spoken about as the second best VIC based ruck in the open pool

Here's some information from when I went to the V'Line Cup three years ago. Some of the names will look familiar for the upcoming draft, and most were 14/15 at the time depending on when they were born in the year.

Some very nice articles you have there mate. Bringing back an old name too; Maeve Tupper. I believe it was her sister Aisling who looked like she was going to be a hell of a player in the early years. Unfortunately, the best you'll see of her is the Vic Country u18 championships in 2017. That was a team.

As for Slender, it seems like her best position is in defence as well as Friend. Yes, Friend does have some pretty good hands up forward, it's a shame she wasn't tried there in her two matches of the u19 championships. Very nice work.

But don't you feel like Matser has fallen under the likes of Tahlia Gillard and Georgia Campbell?

So you'd expect rucks like Matser and Jorja Borg to go late in the draft, if at all?
Matser I could see going from late second round onwards given the relative lack of Ruck options, unless a club backs themselves in to poach one from interstate as an undrafted FA

The guy must have been on the piss writing that one.
On the brightside the AFLW Draft is getting more coverage, and that's something that we can be happy about =)

If Prespakis does leave for Essendon, does the club that drafts her now get compensation?
If she does leave, is it as a free agent or via a trade? If it's the former, then no compensation.

AFL haven't announced concessions or signing rules yet

Cheers. It's a bit slack that, considering it's clearly affecting where gun players are taken in this current draft, not knowing whether they'll be pinched by new clubs and for no compensation. Could be some very costly and wasteful drafting next week.

Absolutely. More coverage the better.

Clubs have to back themselves in to retain their talent.
Nah I'm talking about new clubs pinching talent, where the original club doesn't get a choice in the matter.

If Prespakis doesn't want to re-sign that's fine and a different matter. Is she still worth drafting early just for two years, then out the door for nothing? Where there's smoke there's fire, too much talk about her being a flight risk, it's a worry.

The reasoning i was given is Saints want Patrikios & Smith a bit more outside to use the ball without so much pressure in the coal face, hence the desire to draft a really good inside mid to feed the ball out especially to those 2
A name wasn't given , but Ling or Craven fits that requirement
Very much agree with this. We have enough class with the ball in those two. Especially since they're quite slight in build, they manage to play inside mid off pure willpower and skill alone. As great as they are their best contributions to our club come when they get the ball on the outside and hit our forwards up lace out. I want some genuine muscle and grunt drafted to take the load off their shoulders

I'm sure this was a worry for Melbourne too...

But the truth is the original club has much more of a say in the matter than the expansion club.

I reckon our bigger need is a key defender or someone who can score.

Ideally would like Slender with our first then use our other first rounder on a pure mid.
