I don’t believe Clarko would have taken the year off if he wanted the Blues job. He doesn’t have any guarantee that it will be available next season, and we’ve most likely already thrown our best offer at him.

If it didn’t convince him now, I don’t think it would convince him in a years time.

Strongly disagree.

When you break up with a partner are you more than likely to re-partner after 3 weeks or 12 months? He's been with Hawthorn for 17 years, it would be a huge and immediate change to his life.

Clarkson will have his year off, help his kid finish year 12, the fire will be burning watching footy and not being involved and will come back hungrier than ever.

The Blues job may not be available next year, but something will be for him - GC or some other club.

This is to high…

Parker on a 3yr deal and staying in the first rd of the draft makes more sense.

2 first rounders is something called for when a gun midfielder wants to be traded. However, not all first rounders are the same and Pick 6 is a very good one. I mean, if we downgraded it to two late first rounders, does that mean we fulfil their needs? I hate how people rate all first rounders the same when it suits them.

That is one positive for Lyon. He did grow up a Blues supporter so genuinely hopes for us to do well.
He was at Carlton as an assistant coach for 5 seasons. Surely that is a positive as well.

I think everyone is overcomplicating things a bit, bordering on conspiratorial thinking. None of this is a mess, it’s actually quite smart (haven’t said that about our club for a while).

I personally think it couldn’t be more obvious.

I know it’s going to upset most on here, as you all want Teagues head on a stick – but it’s highly likely it’s something as simple as him being our 2nd option.

We’re conducting a review, sounded out a generational coach in Clarkson whom will be taking the year off, (looks like) he’s declined, so we stick with Teague. Why would we sack him without a better replacement found? Say we sacked him Monday, Clarko declines on Wednesday, we suddenly have no coach.

Furthermore, if we go and hire someone like say, Pyke – that hamstrings us from pursuing Clarkson at the end of 2022 if required. They would be on a longer-term contract and the idea of sacking someone after 1 year is absurd.

So, quite simply, you address all of Teagues deficiencies with him, tell him to put the way he’s been feeling behind him, and get on with the job he’s contracted to. As well as get him the help required. He’s likely furious now, but at the end of the day, we were sounding out a generational coach and he’s contracted – keep coming to work under you’re told otherwise.

If he cant handle the pressure of next year whilst being out of contract with Clarko lurking then he doesn’t belong in an elite environment. He has to suck it up and back himself in to finish in the 8 and be competitive in a final – it’s not a huge ask with this list.

For those thinking it will be more of the same next year – get real – these are grown adults and professionals who adapt, change and innovate. He will be told to add a defensive element to his gameplan, improve selection integrity etc. If he doesn’t, well he won’t get the results and will be sacked. Simple.

Things aren’t rosy at the moment, but if our culture was so rotten under Teague, we wouldn’t have had Cripps and Harry re-sign so easily. Nor has anyone requested a trade yet.

As for the media onslaught and all the conflicting ITK’s, this is clearly the club throwing the media a bunch of crap whilst not allowing any leaks.

If we do keep Teague, I just feel bad as many of our supporters will be hoping he fails so we can get Clarko.
If Teague stays there will be an exodus of many players.

Wait, is Sam McClure really nicknamed ā€œScoopā€? šŸ˜‚

I don’t believe we stick with Teague based on chances that we may get Clarkson in 2023, and if the club is thinking this way, burn it all down since it’s the most brain dead plan ever conjured up.

How could anyone forget?
Most horrid end to season ever as genuine hot premiership contender.
That off season took a long time to get over.
Never forgotten it.
That was back in the day where it was the 1 v 8 , 2 v 7 , .. format and i think we finished second and lost in the first week to the seventh placed team.

Looks like it’s going to be Ross Lyon

We are a joke of a club if true. His recent record isn't good enough to warrant treating him as a messiah appointment.

Left 2 clubs in poor circumstances and was never able to adapt to a more offensive game. Since he left coaching the AFL's rules has made the game even more offensive.
