Which position does Stringer take? He didnt kick enough goals for a proper forward position and didnt do enough in the midfield for a proper midfield posiition?

Did he play better than Bont or Petracca to get a HFF ? Greene or Papley for FP ?

At the absolute very least he gets the nod ahead of Nic Nat. Two ruckmen is ridiculous

Who apart from NN makes it from West Coast?

Who makes it from Freo? If it's Darcy, NN makes way and the numbers remain the same.

Port had two. Amon borderline, but better season than Oliver, Macrae, Bont, Petracca, Miller, Merrett, Parish, Steele? Nope.

Laird is very close, but see above.

Sydney had Papley. Does Buddy make it over Hawkins and McKay in limited games? No. Mills, again didn't outperform the mods listed above, despite having a great year.

GWS - who makes it?

Brisbane had Rich. I would've had Cameron over Papley, but again, negates the interstate number. Andrews was very stiff not to make the squad, but didn't outperform May this season, and had a comparable year to Allir. Again, no change in interstate numbers.

Gold Coast had Miller.

Where would you justify spreading out the team across the states?

Andrews stats look better than May in just about every category. And he does not pad his stats with every kick out.

He kicked two less goals than Papley despite playing four less games and getting injured in the first quarter in another. That's not even mentioning Stringer's clearance dominance.

Forward pockets need clearance dominance? Or does that compete against midfielders, where Stringer may have kicked more goals but was WAY behind on most other midfield stats?

If anything he could have got a spot on the bench rather than a specific position. But was he better than Parish, Miller or Steele?

AA team has never been about picking a team to play a real game, its a reward for a good season. and that is definitely something that nic had

Overall a good team with few surprises, which hasn't been the case for most of these awards. Guessed 21/22. Papley over Stringer the only surprise.

You answered your own issue there - played 4.75 less games. You miss a chunk of games, you have to be super in all the others, Stringer still had a few down games and missed 20% of the year

Honestly, I wouldn't have Papley in our top 5 players this year, though he has put together another really good season. Greene was the obvious standout small forward, but it felt all the other best small forwards (Paps, Cameron, AMT) put together solid seasons that probably felt a step under All-Australian. I actually think Franklin was more worthy of selection.

Bench yes.

For me Parish does not make it because his stats where bumped up by injuries

Laird was far more reliable and can play in other areas

The last few spots could have gone anywhere. Actually think Franklin is a bit unlucky.

Your ongoing beef with May is rather comical. Andrews was stiff to miss out on the squad, but I haven't even seen Lions fans arguing that he should've made the team over May. Realistically, he was competing with Allir and Weitering for the CHB spot.

Steele deserves to be in the team. Ahead of Macrae on the field? No. Ahead of Merritt- possibly (even though he isn’t a wing but neither is Merritt)
