I know what you meant to write, but I'm still giggling at the idea of Mitchell coming in and saying "right, anyone 26 years old or younger is outta here!"
Anyone over 26 is pretty much on the trade table if a good offer comes in. Obviously contracted players need to agree but clubs have shown that getting contracted players out is becoming easier. Apparently Wingard is digging his heels in and not be pushed out by a 2nd club.

Also gives the kid total confidence we want him and always have when in two yrs we are competing with Port for him.
Get him now!

Look if it was a Vic kid, then sure North should keep Pick 1.

The fact that they can get a potential Vic kid at 4 and be a gun coupled with two 1sts in 2022, should be a no brainer for a Club that is barely financially viable in the AFL.

The kind of shit Club that could literally fold in a few years time too. They cant afford a long rebuild.

Make no mistake JHF if he becomes elite wont stay at North and not to mention this is the best price North will get for him now, three 1sts.

100% spot on.

Maybe the initial rejection was more around giving time for everyone to process the idea before pulling the trigger from North's point of view its a big deal to trade out Pick 1 but it's the right thing to do in this case.. they know it.

North posters are very much against it.

They are creaming themselves over JHF.

Its as stupid as Suns posters did over King. At least in their case there wasnt a QLD kid they could take unlike North.

I must admit the offer for pick 1 was more than i expected, and I think it's stupid for norf to knock that back (if its real).

Mixed feelings on it. Would I do it? Yes - but there's always the what if's about what you miss out on the following year.

Truly is a shame he gets to rot at an irrelevant club that should've merged with/been relocated to gold coast years ago.

Has there been any comparable deals like this over the last 10 years? Cant remember?

Not that I can recall off the top of my head. Truly is a 'godfather' offer.
Really it could end up being do North take a Vic kid in Callaghan AND two 1sts 2022 over a SA kid?

If the situation was reversed, I would be pissed if we didnt take it.

I think Callaghan makes it to 4. Then there is the bounty from 2022 to add to it.

North may end up doing us a favour by rejecting it. I genuinely believe history wont be kind for them for knocking this back.

Removing their 22 2nd gets it done - maybe it was a shot across the bow to get them thinking "what would it take".

You think both the GCS and GWS overlook Callaghan who most media pundits have as a clear number 3/4 after Daicos JH-F, Darcy with Daicos and Darcy both certain to be matched I don't know how you can think that with any confidence at all.

Obviously they want him but is it the right call long term for that Club with what's on offer..
No.
The PR spin doctors will smooth it all over when the deal is done 😁

I think if North dont take a revised offer from us that doesnt include their future second, we can assume that they have no confidence Callaghan slips to 4. which then begs the question, are we better off splitting, or reaching for a kid at 4 who we might've gotten at 7?

All along I've been in favour of splitting pick 4 + to get hold of the Tigers 7 & 15 once JH-F was off the table in what is a midfielder laden draft in the 1st round.

There was an earlier post about trying to get GWS involved with pick 2.
Maybe if NM were guaranteed their next pick they would reconsider.
And there has been talk GWS may be looking to move down.. not sure how that may work though

Quick try…

US:
Out: 4, future 1st, Melb future 1st, Adel future 2nd
In: 1, GWS future2nd

NM:
Out: 1, future 2nd
In: 2, Adel future 1st, Melb future 1st

GWS:
Out: 2, Future 2nd
In: 4, NM future 2nd, Adel Future 2nd

That leaves us with pretty much nothing to deal wirh next year if luko or rankine want a trade home.. would ratger involve the pick 33 we have this year instead somehow..

Unless Mcrouch has a massive year next year and his value goes up and we can tell him to take a trade home and get a mid teens pick for him!..

We would use a future 1st in that scenario.

Yeah I didn’t look too deeply coming up with that and if anything felt it was us losing out so swapping 33 for our future 2nd rounder possibly works well. Although not sure GWS would agree.
