Do Collingwood players talk more about getting big contracts than other clubs? Or does the media just focus on it more?
Agree, certain Collingwood players love the final year of their contract, becomes a media circus because the media beat it up because it’s Collingwood...interesting to see how GW handles JDG negotiations.

Yeah it's a credit to the boys, they've really stuck to their structures, taking it one week at a time.
With Bucks gone, I hope the boys still attack the program.

I think those tweets buried the lead on the real revelation of JDG’s US junket. I don’t feel that the drills he’s doing are physically equipping him to shine any brighter in 2022 (the ones we’ve seen at least) and keeping in this type of shape is the absolute bare minimum a guy seeking $1m per season should be doing. For me this was the key quote:

To be honest, in Australia your fitness almost just seems to plateau because you're doing a lot of the same stuff.

So I'm feeling really refreshed mentally, physically, so ready to attack next year.

The growth in his mindset to be self aware enough to understand that he needs the mental break, but also the mental break involves this level of dedication that’s the key. I’m keen to track his performance once he returns and how he stacks up with guys like Pendles and Steele who are on the next rung of midfield endurance because that’s the functional fitness JDG needs, IMO.

Got to love the pre-season champions.

However all jokes aside, it is just magnificent to see this level of commitment and hunger from JDG.

Perhaps being given his head and allowed all that time in the midfield post Bux, not only gave us a glimpse of what he could do, perhaps it gave him one as well, along with the appetite for it.

Looking for a massive season from JDG this coming season.

Can only be good for the club. If he had a big 2022 we benefit. Maybe he pushes his price up but we either get a top line gun for the price we pay or he leaves for another club at top dollar and we get a good pick. Personally I’d rather he finds great form and we get to keep him on a contract that doesn’t destroy the club.

4th isn’t a good finish in the BnF? 🤨
I don’t think Stevie J went that well at Geelong in the B&F and other players visa versa (club level raked it in but less AFL awards). Polling votes is always a tricky one.

This is why I'm really happy the old regime is gone.

I would be feeling confident of losing De Goey with the old group.

But with the new group, they have 12 months to create an environment he simply doesn't want to leave and is willing to take unders to be a part of.

I wonder who is paying for this trip for Jord.

I would assume the club has a budget that they can spend on fitness for their players - but would anything extracurricular like this be considered as a payment outside of the cap?

If the club is paying for this, I think it says a lot about where Jord will be playing his footy long term

He’s doing this as a part of his sponsorship deal, so it’s pretty safe to assume his sponsor paid for the trip.

Must be a contract year.

"Christian's contract is the standout from this year and I've known Christian for a long time and he just took his contract to a whole new level, which was really exciting to see and it was great to watch him sign that.

That's definitely something I want to sign".

His sponsor from what I understand ‘Monster’

Appointed his brother in law as a manager? I love these family managers, always so successful and brings good outcomes for us
Brother in law.
Still.
Blood is sometimes "thicker" than water in the mental sense.
Clokes old man was a hindrance at best in his negotiations.

Hopefully Jordan's BIL is the full quid.
Personally I would not be comfortable with having a family member depend on a cut of my income they negotiate to make their living. (Wife and kids excepted)

Real question that needs to be answered though, is he training the house down?
