I don't know the ins and outs of the Labor proposal, but I would assume a voice in Parliament in the form of a consultancy body who must have comments heard, reviewed and responded to for policies such as health, jobs, land rights, environment, welfare, homelessness, adoption, living standards, housing, policing, rural communities etc would make sense.
Appropriate consultation timeframes to enable the concerns of ideas should be carefully considered to suit both parties - the government and the body to ensure positive change.

exactly.

a voice to… not voice over parliament.

Independent national broadcaster, my arse…

Sussan with 3 essess… turns up to spruik $800m in drone purchases to help “boost Australia’s influence” in Antartica. Good old Lisa Millar attempts to bring in a Chinese aggression angle to the interview…

Repeated references to the lock out as commuter chaos caused by industrial disputes, implying the unions are responsible.
Lisa exhorts those “out and about in Sydney” to let us know how it’s going … clearly looking for frustrated live comment.

References to PM Scott to “unviel” Antarctic spending commitmen. ( I though Sussan just did that).
Quick blurb on Dutts and Marise Payme standing up to Chinese AND Russian aggression during superficial Ukraine story.

someone needs to stick to doing voice overs for pre packaged recipe boxes.

Nobody wants scomo as pm either.

See I can make arguments as good as you.

Them's fighting words!!

It's counterintuitive to think that 65 year olds are more naive than 20 year olds. Do you see yourself being more naive when you're 60 years old?
It's counterintuitive if the world stays the same, because then old people would have had more time to understand it. It isn't counterintuitive if the world has changed rapidly, with young people having grown to accustomed to the new order of things and old people still stuck in the previous world.

Younger generations did grow up with the internet, so they’ve never learned to critically analyse what they see on it.
Please. Anyone who spends any time on the internet knows full well that trolls and misinformation abound. The younger generations are better educated and have been taught critical thinking as part of that (unfortunately not all of them put that into practice though).

I also think the lack of trust in today's institutions (government, media, religion etc) has made younger generations much more cynical than older generations, and so less likely to swallow what they're told from on high.

Katie Allen (who is gonna lose her seat). Paediatric allergist and smart enough to be one of the 5 floor crossers on the religious discrimination bill. Doesn’t come across as a foaming nutter on radio interviews

Unfortunately for her, her rep in Higgins got smashed in 2020 when she kept backing scomo's let it rip views on covid.

Anyone listening to her knew she didn't believe what she was saying, and for a doc to roll over defending science for party politics was disappointing

Allen is exactly the type of candidate who the liberals could have used to lock Higgins away from the greens, but that appears to have been pissed away now imo*

genuinely could go to any of lib/alp/green/teal*, with it gunna come down to first preferences determining how the preferencing dominoes fall. Libs need the Indi to drop first as they are most likely to get preferences from them than the alp or greens

** I haven't heard an announcement yet for a Voices For candidate for Higgins. Heard we were getting a very strong one months ago, but it's been oddly quiet compared to Kooyong and Goldie.

It's possible that post election the Liberal Party split will become obviously electorally as traditional small l Liberal seats that should be the party's bread and butter split from it as it becomes increasingly radicalised. Morrison can bang on about Albo being the most radical PM since my namesake but the Liberal Party's view for Australia's future is radically different to the one that most of us grew up in, and not for the better.

agree with this.

the fracturing of the Lib vote is a very real in traditionally wealthy leafy suburban areas. It’s a direct result of the party’s leadership, rules, policy platforms and activities being subsumed by groups with very different values To Libs in Gokdstein/Wentworth etc.

groups that set out to capture and change the liberal party.

This is very true. The young have been hammered with information about trolls, bots and perverts from the start of their schooling. The problem is more about that instinct to join a side to be a part of a tribe.

Older people have taken far longer to recognise, where they do, the amount of internet misinformation that exists. There is a reason why the bulk of ivermectin supporters, qanon theorists and defenders against a non-existent socialist government are older people with beer bellies at the lower end of educational achievement

For those thinking polls should be punishing the coalition harder

“History tells us that the Coalition does not drop below one-third of the primary vote. That’s their base level of support regardless of circumstances, and they’re bouncing along at that level now,” he said.

If there was a year to go to election, scomo would be goneski

I posted a link recently showing now anti-Chinese opinion in Australia is higher than anti-Muslim or Arab opinion. We know the Liberals have won multiple elections on anti-Muslim/migrant campaigns. We know Morrison was one of the biggest proponents of the anti-Muslim campaign in the Liberals:

Anti-china opinion.
They are pointing lasers at Australians military in Australian seas.
We are in a china made pandemic.
Time to take off you're rose coloured glasses and stop being a bigot.

Why are we selling vast quantities of resources to them then? Scratch even a millimetre below Morrison and Dutton's bluster and it quickly becomes evident that this anti China bullshit's all just performance art.

Why does nsw have no public transport?
Looks like doubling down on bad policy, people aren't stupid and they are don't see strike action as something that happens when people actually turn up to work. Ridiculous thing to do, it's only going to impress the rusted ons.
