Any info how this kids tracking?

At 19 obviously will require time, but always struck me as an “athletic” 202cm Vs a lumbering type

Chom showed he was a capable CHF, albeit from a very small sample size. Don’t want to see him moved back, would much rather a ruckman dropped because only Goldie showed forward play capabilities today. That experiment could get ugly

Any progress updates on Jacob?
I can only give you what I saw on the live stream; competed well around the ground (eg brought the ball to ground in a pack for our first crumbing goal) but in the ruck, Stefan Martin put him on his backside a few times, which is only what you'd expect - he's a mile off it in terms of physical development, but I'd say coming along nicely in terms of game sense etc

Showing some signs, but struggling a bit on the ruck against the mature rucks. Not really clunking the footy at the moment with his marking, but definitely competitive when flying for the footy.

Not getting heaps of the footy, but his effort and intensity around the ruck is really good. It does feel like they are managing his game time. Probably spending a 50/50 split between forward and ruck. Looks as though he has put on a bit of weight which is good.

You can see he is a good athlete and has pretty good game awareness, just needs the body to be able to consistently compete with the big boys.

Sounds like he's going s**t house from that summary lol

He's coming from a long way back given his lack of physical development. He's going to be a slow burn, probably a very slow burn.
At least a couple of years off physically and more than that for his peak physical development - and that's ok. He's actually a good fit for our list given CCJ and Xerri now on board. Both have several years into them and can push over the next couple of years to take over from Goldy. Edwards realistically looks several years of being a prime move at AFL level but has plenty of talent - if we play our cards right he'll be hitting his straps right as the team is starting to peak in its development.

Big men take time. Especially an 18 year old ruckman/key forward that’s coming off two Covid interrupted years.

Some the big positives:

  • Athleticism, freakish for a guy his size
  • Ability to get to the right areas
  • Very rarely beaten when one on one…at minimum he always halves the contest
  • Deft ruckwork when he gets first hands to it.
  • Neat kick for a big man

What the hell was he doing during the preseason?
"He was still finishing school last year so could only come into the Kangaroos at certain times with a COVID bubble still operating under AFL protocols, with the club focusing on building his training program over summer."

School finished mid November.

From December to March, what was he doing?
