20, 13, 25 is my plan! I'm purely going for leagues (ranked 4k something, no point in caring about overall) so will take the L in week 13 to (hopefully) win the other two weeks and end with the players I want.

Yeah there's no fixing that. I'd trade in a few more R13 players for this week to.

I’ll have 19 playing this week with no trades and subbing in McCartin in the backline and Stephens and McComb in the midfield.

Have no clue where to trade tbh

Is your worst bye round really going to matter?

Changing patterns of thought!

If rookies are worth say 30% to 65% of an Uber Premos score.
Counting players on-field is null and void.
Only the average of total score over the 3 bye rounds counts.
A good average may be 2000 while Par could end up as 1850, taking into account one round fielding less than 18 (a tanked round)..

Part of this thinking is to make myself feel better for screwing up Rd 13 (only 14 maybe 15 to 17 on field).
Another part is to stop the temptation of hitting the self destruct button and doing too many sideways trades of certified Premos, just to improve one round, to then have to trade them back ASAP.

Or not trade back sideways player at all…
Eg, Touk and Macrae and Laird for say Parish, Walsh, Kelly.
Its possible (but highly unlikely) a trade like this works if counting the extra game made up in the switch by trading in after their bye. As long as the traded in players can average within 5-10SC over remaining rounds.

For some teams like my own. This also slams the handbrake on one round of possible upgrades which yield's the greatest overall gains.
75SC to 115SC = +40SC : times that by remaining games.
This covers the loss of two players then sum. +440SC over 11 remaining rounds.

Last year I panicked too much and ruined my final team plans by sideways trading over the byes to field max players each bye round, only to lose more points on the back end, while also missing out on being able to upgrade D6/M8 and F6. Losing finals by 150 points and being knocked out in straight sets.

My advice “Don’t Panic”, breath deep.

It's all about the rookies, now. Need some to present themselves and hoping a few can cling on to their jobs. I can see a spicy path through the Byes.

This week:
SHayes for Comben (R3)
Daicos for English (F, via SDK)

Next week:
SDK for Wehr (or Bews, at a pinch)
Rosas for Owens (or similar shmuck)
Rachele for Zerrett

Rnd 14:
No trades

I'd have 19-19-22 playing, assuming rookies actually play (except Comben).

Would leave me 12 trades and "full premo" - worst fielded player on each line would be Ridley, Merrett, Preuss and Coniglio respectively - with at least one decent JS emergency per line.

I have no doubt this will not occur.

Stephens, McComb and Buku types are no guarantees to get picked this week.
I'm almost hoping Bevo forces my hand on McComb.
I've earned $146k with him this far, and the capitalist in me wants him to keep him mooing.
But the rational part of me wants to get rid of him ahead of next week when I will already have to let SDK and Paddy go, and no doubt there will be some other random mess that I need the third trade for.
I need three round 13 bye players gone before their bye you see, I currently only have 16 fieldable players.

That’s amazing
I’m burning 5 trades between the next two rounds. RD12 & RD13

Having two dead rookies is very restrictive: Skinner & Pedlar
Yep, got lucky.
Held Owens all year and he gets back for the byes!

Also, playing mainly for my cash league, so watch my opponents go 20, 21, 22! :D

Trades may be a bit tight going forward. Rather than bring in rookies, who are emergency use only I have decided to trade Heeney to Anderson and trust that Preuss is back next week. I'm giving up on cash generation for now but next year........

Anderson gives me about 80 points extra for round 13 and looks to make a minimum of 60k in 2 weeks instead of Heeney losing 20k. Heeney also projected to lose money round 14. After I trade Hayes to Teakle/Ramsden I will have 275k for forward upgrades with Cameron being about 500k and Anderson 460+k coming in to their bye.

Will kelly out to wehr. Ik wehr has the bye this round but I have 20 playing this round, 17 r13 and 22 r14. Didn't look like this a couple weeks ago but here we are. Im happy with 20 this week so getting wehr in now i dont mind too much, and at least it means i can make some money and have a field of 18 next week. I miss sc plus 😢 With wehr in I have 20, 18, 23 I think. No good rookie options that i dont have from r14 byes so not much I can do about the 18/23 balance.

Edit: I'll get him in next week to see if he is named

What if Wehr gets dropped for Whitfield next week?

I was hoping they'd wait until after his bye to bring Smith back. If he scores his average he'll rise 21k in price.
I could bring him in instead of Sinclair, but that would give me an extra player I don't need this week and cost me a player I do need next week. Might have to stick to plans and hope Smith is still a bit sick and plays like Petracca did last week.

On the plus side, it's a pleasant surprise to see Stephens has held his place at Geelong. It's also promising that proposed trade in Sam Butler has been picked on-field and not on the extended bench. That suggests his JS is fairly good in the short-medium term.

I’m really torn between a big decision for next week that needs to be setup this week with trades.

I’ve been a big advocate for keeping one of SDK or PaddyMc for stronger and more secure bench coverage.
Reason is past seasons not having injury protection, and at least one could help late season.

But a perfect storm has developed and a change in players who will cover lines for rest of season.
Mid-Clarke; Fwd/Mid-Hobbs; and Ruck/Fwd-Teakle. I am holding Reid in Def but not enough cash gen yet will prevent upgrades and will eventually cost an extra trade.

So my D5-D7 are Kiddy, PaddyMc and SDK and I would love to keep one or two of these guys til finals. But the lure of sacrificing all 3 next week for
Rookie + Sinclair/Hewett or Sicily/Ryan (For a POD option), just seems too tempting.
The con will be security in DEF bench coverage but the pro is 60pts per round better.

Reason asking for thoughts this week as I am trading in Darcy, Teakle and a D8/F8/M9 rookie, outs are Hayes, Dixon, Daicos.
I can get any rookie to fill one of these 3 places now via DPP swings.
But targets depend on committing to next weeks upgrade now or do them slowly down the track when other guys have generated enough cash, be about rd 16.
If I plan later I will then keep one of the Fwd/Def guys and get new rookie Derkson this round to double up with at the other end.(dont care if he doesn’t play)
If I just bite the bullet and go next round then the board opens up with any rookie I could take this week.
Targets include, Owens, Carmichael, Culley.

By now you can tell by how long this post is, it is proportional to how hard this decision is.

Help/advise welcome.

With SDK and McCartin, I'd like to keep both, but that would make affording upgrades pretty difficult. Keeping one might be affordable, but which one?
This round could make things a bit clearer. Stanley's back so Blicavs will be pushed back into his tall defender role which could limit SDK's scoring.

Yeah I don’t think other players will impact much on SDK. It’s not the same as other roles. He looks to be learning Full Back defensive mark role with a bit of CHB movement. Blicavs is mobile so may impact more on Stewarts touches down back.

I rate McCartin ahead of SDK age, experience, skillset currently.
Paddy does pose the injury/concussion concern still.

Yeah I'm sure there'll be something, but easier to post here and edit as we go, then the admins can earn their money and move a few posts :D
