From all reports Sherwood were very unlucky to go down to the Roos today. Were up with a few minutes to go before the Roos were gifted two late goals from two very questionable free kicks.
Didn't see the frees but considering Roos were up all day until part way thru the last qrt i wouldn't say Sherwood were "unlucky" but showed a lot of grit to get themselves back into the game.
Was disappointing that the Sherwood colts had to forfeit today too. Rarely happens at QAFL level.

Grange very good today game could’ve gone either way. I guess the question is why can’t they play at that level more often. Looked like a finalist today. Eagles probably best on . In the end it was probably a couple of cool experienced heads Searl etc that got the Cats over the line but a very good game of footy.

And it’s great Noosa do their own stream each week I checked out the last 10 mins as the scores weren’t up and a great finish

So who won Noosa v Panthers? It should be a live score. This is more important than than a live stream video and commemtary
Morningside by 2 points with 10 seconds to go kicked the winning goal. Cracking game of footy that was a close contest all day.

Morningside’s kicks played out of their skins. Was a goal either way most of the day. Morningside kicked away by 19 points at 3 quarter time. But Noosa reeled them in very early in last quarter and was an arm wrestle throughout entire last quarter

Your boy kicked the winner did he SM... :) There would have been a very vocal and good crowd at Noosa for a cracking winters day. They do things well (except the live scoring... :) )

Good comp atm. Wouldn't say anyone could beat anyone on their day but certainly reasonably even across the board as recent results suggest. Its good.

Had a mate tell me yesterday that the O&M are struggling big time filling 2's teams - blokes being dragged out at age 40+ to fill in. Including Albury!
No matter what our issues her ein SEQ are with footy its good to remember that other places suffer the same fate in very much football areas. Think we do pretty well as a code tbh.

What do you mean ‘hear’ , you would’ve seen he kicked 14 when you checked the results on Play HQ, you’re in contention for another Sydchrome Tool of the Week award.
fyi Ablett,,, I have a mate whom is a Redland supporter who was at the game and sent me a txt saying Hammelmann is lining up for his 14th,, then another txt saying hes kicked it ,, so I heard that without looking at HQ..
Ablett, stop bagging posters here please

Have Broadbeach ever gone into a game this century with every player in their best 22 playing together Stuyd??
Smy. you have misunderstood where Im coming from . Those players I noted are like in our top group of players, not say 2 top players and the others are fringe players. So my point is take that quality of these 6 players out of any side and you have a very below strength line up .

You are kidding me?? He's a very good 2nd tier player. Had a heap of opportunity at the Lions. I'm sure he will be happy with his lot in life.
Not kidding at all. He got two-three years at the Lions, but has become a much better player in his mid twenties. There isn't a key forward in the country who has kicked as many goals per game as him over the last few years. His numbers are outstanding. It hasn't been enough, though, to get another chance. I am convinced he isn't looking for that anymore. Has been mentioned once or twice on the forum he has moved on with his career, and the fact he chose to stay and play in the QAFL rather than the VFL, WAFL or SANFL kind of supports that. Good luck to him, playing in the AFL isn't everything and I'm sure he is enjoying his footy. I'm just continually astounded he didn't get another go. Plenty of players picked at a mature age with a considerably inferior record.

Yes mate he did, had a good day and probably pretty happy to snag the winner. Think Morningside would have been bit unlucky to lose as I thought they were better side most of the day.

But to Noosa’s credit they got themselves back into it late and nearly stole it.

Yeah but every week you preface a win thats closer than maybe predicted with "Broadbeach had x number of players missing..." TBH half the battle of being a good club is managing your list to cope with injuries - and to not get injuries in the first place (preventable ones such as soft tissue). Just think it undermines the efforts of the club you are playing against. I would suggest very few, if any, club goes in full strength week in week out.

Not sure the QAFL is where recruiters are scouring for key position players ready to hold their own at AFL level tbf mate but understand where you are coming from.

Good crowd there?
Had Fev at their presidents lunch which i heard was really good. Those punters always pour out well lubricated and in fine voice... :)

smy,
in no way have I undermined the opposition, Im the first to say how well they played , but as a staunch Broady supporter I will post my comments regardless,, nothing wrong with that .

There are plenty of key forwards who kick bags of goals each years in comps around the country. Take Darren Ewing for instance. Probably kicked 700 goals for Thunder when in QAFL and NEAFL and now in country Vic comps he is kicking 13 and 14 a week. Not AFL standard but a great goal kicker, Hammelman fits into that category

Boof Ewing was a freak in the NEAFL
Dzufer & Clouston = Hammelman

Just rewatched the Roos last 2 goals on cluch

Second last one (approx 2:28:37) looks like a classic 2v1 block paid in the marking contest. Didn't see a lot in it from the camera angle but the ump was right there and probably observed the players' eyes/contest on the ball or lack of

Last one (2:30:06) didn't see a lot wrong with. Possibly missed an in the back on the Sherwood player but looked like the Roos tackler made effort to fall to the side

Question either if you want but I'll take the umps word, they had a lot better view of both

just had a look.

I think the worst one was the one to get them back within 3 points (2.23.10), then the 2 v 1 in marking contest is a shocker and the umpire on camera in perfect view actually calls play on, so can only assume a free kick was paid by out of zone umpire

The last one is a push in the back, but happy for that not to be paid most of the time - but in the context given the previous 2 goals from almost nothing, that would have hurt the lads from the Magpies chasing their first win.

Must have been bloody windy!

Wow, have a look at 2.24.56 - massive trip, then they find a free kick for Roos on half forward after a Maroochy guy grabs #12 Sherwood around the neck and then jumper punches him with an umpire 1m away from it?

Yeah, probably a few things could have been picked out of that. Sticking out that leg should get some attention on video review. Probably looked worse from the video angle than the ump would have seen

I think the free kick at 2.23.10 was there. Player on the outside of the pack getting a shove is a lot easier to see and made sure he was

yes, looks to be a reportable offence. Can only assume the bloke who got kicked in the shins had a bit to say about it and the free kick was paid against him, but are we really at a point now where a bloke can punch/grab a guy high in front of an umpire, and that umpire then is more upset by the query for a free kick?

You can see he puts his whistle up to pay a free kick for the jumper punch then conciously decides not to. Very strange. Umpires certainly didn't like #23 Sherwood.
