He'll miss and give you a big grin to boot haha. I like his laconic style, we need characters like those in our game.

Then he'll do a somersault and kick one from the boundary. Box office

I think BRAB, what we need for you to do is consider Joe's impact and contribution in the same way that we consider Planck's constant in our day to day lives as we all do, and allow our perception of the game to flow around it.

If we make the grand final you can put him down for a match winning 3 goals 8 behinds performance.

It feels to me like the world is a very black and white place to you, old friend.

This issue fired me up, probably a bit too much. It was more seeing red than black and white.

Keays owned reserves and is genuine AFL level, without being Brownlow contending. I was a little irked that we had learnt nothing from that experience.

I'll do my best to not comment on this any more

It feels like there is an expected element of assy goal built into the game plan. Just get it inside 30 and anything can happen. Looks great when it comes off. Rarely comes off against high pressure, highly skilled opponents with nous. This is evident in the finals performance over the past 4 years.

We won’t win a premiership or even make a GF so long as we rely on this. It’s the icing on the cake, not the cake. We treat this as the main meal when it’s desert.

Combine that with a game plan of bombing it long to tall forward line that includes Hipwood and Danhier, that are leading forwards, not contested marks and it’s obvious the game plan needs changing.

If it doesn’t change the pattern of kicking it long and watching it come straight back out and transition to the other end will continue. As will the successful finals drought.

I think Keays has been good for Adelaide. In my view, he's shown that he is an AFL level player for a team who is accomplished currently than the Lions. The team improved not too long after he departed, and while his endeavour is something he took elsewhere, I don't think we would be a better side with him and his deficiencies in it. That grass is not greener and I don't think our list managers lose sleep over that one.

Keays has done a great job for Adeliade and an amazing effort to extend his career. He won’t be in the Crows best 22 when they are serious contenders though. Has a role to play now, and good on him. But his not a member of a premiership winning midfield.

I think the Crows board have finally worked this out as well

He's super fun to watch as long as you're comfortable with being stressed out every time he's got a set shot

His kicking was good start of year if you recall? He was like 17.7 or something.

Shoulder put him back to square 1 it seems.

That snap from 40 meters out directly in front encapsulates the mystery that is Joe Daniher.

That’s him though, plays on often misguided instinct, not structure.

Crazy artist, not an astute scientist.

Was on track for AA selection before shoulder.

I think eventually you have to think of match threads as the digital equivalent of the off-the-cuff emotional responses people have live at a game moment to moment.

The benefit of being at a game is that there is no paper trail. If you could get a transcript of every utterance from people at live matches we’d all look similarly unhinged and full of contradictory analysis.
Good point... only without the pensioners screaming JUST KICK THE BALL and going mental every time they go sideways or backwards.

When Zorko moved into the midfield proper in the last quarter we were a much better team
The last few years we were a much better team when Zorko was mostly in the midfield
All the talk about our engine room midfield issues will be forgotten once the coaches make this move permanent for the remainder of the year
The wing positions i will mention later
Zorko has had some issues injury wise this year.
However if declared fit to play he should be in the midfield with stints forward/wing/bench
Fagan mentioned at the beginning of the year that more midfield time will be going to the likes of Rayner/Bailey/ McCarthy with less time for Zorko & Lyons
Zorko's premiership window is fast closing so hopefully he will be up to this task with only 5 to 8 games remaining for the year
Rayner /Bailey and to a lesser extent McCarthy has not produced the results needed to knock off the top teams
The Rayner/Bailey combination has been too inconsistent in 2022 and rarely do they both put in good games on the same day
For clarity and against popular opinion on B/F i would have Lyons over Mathieson if a decision has to be made

(Fol)- Oscar - Neale - Zorko & (center) Mc Cluggage
Bench Lyons (M/F), Bailey (F/M)

Injury replacement Mathieson
If Mathieson is chosen over someone else so be it, as long as it is not over Zorko

The wings
Underrated midfield positions.
Except for Jarod Berry's very good season and of late Ah Chee we have been all over the place in wing selection
Even last night Bailey started in defense but by 1/2 way through the first Fagan made the change and swapped Ah Chee (wing) and Bailey over
Both ended up playing well but this throws out team cohesion in the long term
Berry was moved on to Millar in the last quarter and some say that helped swing the game but i am not so sure. Did no harm though
Ah Chee looks like he will be thrown around to fill some holes again. This happened last year and he had one/two bad games and got dropped for a final
Robbo is up and down on form and still does Robbo things that we all love and hate.
They need to settle on the wing positions and leave them.
For me at this stage of the year it is

Berry & Ah Chee with Prior bench

Injury replacement Robbo

The favourite sport on here is to get stuck into Keays.

He still had 12 tackles yesterday. And playing at a reasonable level if not where he was for the majority of the year . At least he throws himself in both ends. Not too many of ours do that. Sometimes it's not that easy in an ordinary side , surprisingly some seem to think it is.

Mini-Match: Brisbane v Gold Coast

Mini March from last night:

2.33 - Look how wide of Casboult Adams is. Tries to make ground, has zero impact at contest. Casboult marks and goals.

4.22 - No defensive effort from Adams. Standing flat footed behind contest. Zero impact at contest. Chol marks uncontested in front of Andrews and Adams. Chol goals.

7.53 - Adams caught behind Casboult. No body pressure. Zero impact at contest. Casboult goals.

9.40 - Adams once again playing off his opponent. Allows Casboult to get goal side of him. Did not compete. Zero impact at contest. Casboult goals.

11.23 - Adams playing very wide of his new opponent, Chol. No attempt to maintain touch on opponent. Allows Chol to get goal side of him. Zero impact at contest. Chol marks unopposed and goals.

Adams was terrible last night, but under Fagan it appears he will get a game despite his poor form and obvious defensive shortcomings. For a player with his physical attributes is incomprehensible that he is unable to have any physical impact on so many contests. This has been an issue for such a long time. Adams looks like Tarzan but doesn’t play like Tarzan. He is consistently out positioned and out played.

Adams desperately needs time in the reserves to learn his craft as a defender. Picking him every week will cost us games and finals as opposition teams play through him by targeting his immediate opponent for inside fifty service.

He played there when he started with us and looked good from what I remember. I think he's very creative and can do more from behind play. Helps us slot Lohmann in forward line too.
I don't like the level of pace we have in defense and kept asking for Madden. Bailey would go a long way in addressing that too.

Even better if he can drift forward once or twice a game and kick a miracle goal or two ala Rich

He was in AA form to start the season and was Cleary our best defender, I don’t think he needs time in the twos to “learn his craft”

Too solve our lack of speed I would do this.

B: Adams, Andrews, Starcevich
HB: Coleman, Gardiner, Zorko
C: McCluggage, Berry, Ah chee
HF: Rayner, Hipwood, McCarthy
F: McInerney, Daniher, Bailey
Fol: Fort, Neale, Mathieson
Int: Cockatoo, Prior, Madden, McStay
Emerg: Payne

Rich, Lyons, Answorth, Robinson make way for some faster players. The replacements may not have the experience but the game has moved on.

I’d be happy to bring in some younger players but with final coming up, it’s not the time.

Put up your best teams.

What do you think the solution is then? The vision from last night was damning.

Keep playing him, I didn’t think he was that bad last night and he saved us at least a couple times. We conceded a lot of goals from frees last night and Casboult is a very good congested mark and always has been.

The Over 50’s Clique Dream Team

B: Lester, Andrews, Starcevich
HB: Coleman, Gardiner, Rayner
C: McCluggage, Berry, Ah Chee
HF: Zorko, Hipwood, McCarthy
F: Cameron, Daniher, Bailey
Fol: McInerney, Neale, Mathieson
Int: Lyons, Prior, Robertson, Fort
Emerg: Payne

This team is full of natural footballers who have a red hot go and there are no ‘Coach’s Pet or Project’ players. It would give us the best shot at winning the Premiership this year.
