Montgomery feels the heat will be "water off a duck's back" for Hinkley, and he expects the 10-year coach to still be at the helm in 2023.

'Ken Hinkley is the best person to coach Port Adelaide next year because it would be inconvenient to get rid of him for legal reasons' is the best argument they have left.

Hinkley isn't getting a contract extension - he knows it, the club knows it. He sure as hell doesn't want to spend a year as a dead man walking. He's not surviving this, just a matter of working out an exit strategy acceptable to both parties.

I'm all for replacing Hinkley, but I do think the whole #sackhinkley thing does us more damage than good. It certainly doesn't help when trying to attract players or staff to the club. It's personal and entirely without nuance. There are justifiable, evidence backed reasons why Port Adelaide should be seriously looking at replacing the coach. There's even a good argument to be made that we should have done it a while ago. "Sack Hinkley" doesn't do any of that. It just gives ammunition to the media (who control the narrative) to label us as ungrateful simpletons. It's got attention, but i just worry it's also done some damage.

We need to make noise, we need to be heard, we need to trigger such discontent that our club looks like a shambles. WHATEVER THE heck IT TAKES TO GET OUR CLUB BACK!!!!!

This is the key for me.

Dixon and Lycett missing for half the year was a perfect storm which meant that Finlayson, who would be an epic forward/second ruck, had to take more of a primary role in the side. When Dixon came back in, Finlayson was able to swap with Charlie up forward and give us better looks, but our system would be far better if Dixon was able to stay forward and it was Lycett who Finlayson was swapping with.

You put Lycett and Dixon in the side, and suddenly Finlayson is in the role that Ladhams was playing in 2021 but far more dangerous, which would have taken the pressure off of Georgiades to kick goals and use this year to consolidate his around the ground work. But there's a silver lining to everything - we probably wouldn't have seen Marshall develop the way he did without Dixon missing.

Koch is also right about the fact that the players and coaches have stuck together. The last time a coach that had reached consecutive prelim finals the two years before was sacked was Rodney Eade, and it was obvious that he had reached the end of the road with the playing list when they lost multiple games in a row by big margins.

None of the excuses are valid for the losses to Hawthorn and the Crows.

Even Montgomery didn't condemn the sign, just put it down to passion of the supporters.

There also seems to be a point of ensuring that even though the commentary is around Hinkley being there next year, there's no talk of anything beyond then.

Monty also went on to say that a club looking to climb the ladder would do well to consider Hinkley.

It's a great look in my opinion. A supporter base raising the middle finger to a club hierarchy that's left them behind. Powerful., and it will only gain momentum from here. A bad look was Richmond supporters spitting at the players going down the tunnel. This is not that.
