Agree with this, no need at all to spend assets on another ruck at this time. Should always have a project ruck type in the VFL to see if you can strike gold - that's Mirkov at the moment.

I also think we need more physicality and nastiness. Could do with a mid-size forward. A guy like Zurhaar would be amazing, I reckon, but he's priced himself well out of reach with recent form I'd think.
Agreed. We needed someone this year because Mirkov not ready and TDK a bit young. Next year unlikely that either is an issue. Wouldn’t be many clubs carrying more than 3 specialist rucks plus emergency options.

Hope we don't spend stupid money and wreck our salary cap on these 3...
Our list still needs work and we still need to be flexible $$$ to bring in players of need in the future...
I believe Harry and Charlie are both already on around $800k (ish). I doubt they'll need/want much more above that.

No key forward back up or draft planned forty?

When Pitto, McDonald and Mckay were injured we had to go with a small forward line and use Cripps in the ruck...which is when his brownlow form disappeared.

If all our players are fit we have enough depth, but McDonald, Gov and Marchbank are all injury prone.
Always a tricky one.
If Pitt is fit we have Charlie, Harry, TDK and Sos all as tall fwds.
You’d imagine one of Durdin or Mcdonald would be kept. So both can play fwd if needs be. Otherwise young can play the third tall fwd/ruck role of others in the back line are fit.
Kemp and Gov can play at either end.
On paper it looks like we are well stocked, and it’s very hard to build a list to cover the amount of injuries we’ve had this year in specific positions.
Best KPP available at our first pick would be the smartest option, who knows what position they will end up in. Naughton was drafted as a defender and Jones was drafted as a forward…

i dont get it...what about the salaries of jones and williamson and possibly edcurnow who could also retire?

Ed's already taken a pretty significant cut from his prime salary.

Jones's salary has been absorbed elsewhere.

Williamson's career setbacks never got him big money.

It's pretty basic stuff.

Re-sign our own, maximize our draft picks to improve our age profile, and because this trade period is set to be a bumper there will be players who present themselves as golden opportunities to buy low.

Boring is good. Boring doesn't mean no work is being done. Boring clubs seize opportunities ahead of desperate clubs.

On Clarkson, a footy reporter told Gareth Parker on 6PR this morning that he’s a done deal at G Dubya. Just had a 3rd catchup with em. Something about 1st meet up for coffee. 2nd meet foreplay. 3rd meet let’s get it on.

No issues if you can’t answer 43, but do you have any inkling as to what type of player we’ll target with our first rounder this year? Best available, or something specific to fill a list need?

We might be going a tad early on Setterfield's rebirth. I hope the penny has dropped for him, but let's not get carried away just yet.
I'm stumped why people are lining up to write off Cotters, but falling over themselves to over hype Setterfield.
Cotters in the last 2 years has given us more than Setterfield ever has his entire Contract. Trade him and Dow for whatever picks we can get and lets start looking for diamonds in the rough who wont consume our salary cap for bugger all reward.

Gws have openly discussed where they are up to with this. They have also interviewed Yze, Kingsley and spike mcveigh.

Its nowhere near a done deal yet though. GWS were hoping to be able to pay ambassadorial money outside the soft cap but the AFL have knocked that on the head.

North are openly pitching to Clarko and not having any discussions with anyone else. They have Ricky Ponting assisting. They have a couple of things in their favour 1) can still live in Melbourne 2) started his career with them.

He can take his pick but may pick neither and wait another year.

Personally think he stuffed up last year when he could have coached us or Collingwood and probably would have looked like a genius at either.

If interested could probably get the port job as well if he wanted it, suspect that if they thought that they could get him port would move Kenny on.

Lots to play out yet. If I was framing a market it would be;
GWS - evens
North - 7/4
Port - 8/1
None of the above - 7/2

If I was Clarko I wouldn't be after the Port job.

Sure, they have some talented kids but that age profile at the elder end is dreadful. Within 2-3 years they'll be losing Gray, Boak, Dixon, Jonas, Lycett,.

They'll likely lose Amos.

By the time they've replaced them Wines and Alliir Allir will be pushing 30.

That's a rebuild waiting to happen. They've missed their big window.

You are probably right. The attraction is probably that he has coached there before.

Something is probably going to happen at Port as they need to make some decisions either way, if they ascertain that their chances are finished with this group they probably need to move Ken on .

I guess Setterfield's draft position has a lot to do with it. People expect him to eventually come good based on him being such a high draft pick.

Liam Jones to the bulldogs on a 3 year deal I’m hearing. Will be interesting to see what kind of compo we get
