This whole honour the contract stuff is BS. Let’s say he does go around again in 2023 - then what? The likelihood of an extension is extremely low. In fact history suggests that outgoing coaches are generally turfed by midseason to allow clubs to begin their coaching search.

It would be typical Ports to let Hinkley coach the first half of the season, sack him, and then still have to pay out half his 2023 contract to sit around.

According to Kane on sen this morning, we are all irrational supporters, and Koch was disrespectful by making his threat, and yet again how are we going to afford the 600k pay out and who are the candidates that are better.

This is a merry go round of morons we are dealing with people. This club better make the right call or they will lose so many long time supporters.
Lol there’s literally a 4 time premiership coach looking for an employer next season.

Nah **** this club, Jack Cahill was invested in winning and winning Premierships, not like this loser.
When we had injuries Jack would make sure they were at the game still, giving their team mates support. Fantasia instead of being there for his team mates posted the roast dinner they just cooked on instagram, while his team was getting beaten.
This is the softness and lack of desire to sacrifice to win that is the new Port Adelaide, just pathetic top to bottom.

Articles of players saying they want Ken to stay are meaningless....what else are they meant to say?
The quotes are a little more than him "I'd like to see him stay"

At a high level, $600,000 is 2,000 memberships at $300 per membership (which is on the lower end for an 11 game membership). There will easily be 2,000 members dropping off after this year if they keep Ken. Just sack him already, cop the payout and retain the revenue from members staying signed up plus the potential for former members signing up again.

The money issue will be made worse when Port have a poor start to the season next year (like Leon Cameron), because they will still need to pay out the remainder of Ken's contract when he inevitably leaves and 2,000+ members will have left.

The players really can't not back the guy in public when asked, but i have found the recent strong support of Ken from some players quite funny when i look at the piss weak effort they put out on Saturday night... if that was playing for Ken then that's clear evidence we desparately need a change.

As someone on here said yesterday, Chad Wingard had a contract, and he didn't want to leave. And now we have the same coach, whose utter incompetence turned that AA, potential superstar into a bored, unhappy, disinterested also-ran, screaming "I have a contract!!!".

I hate Ken Hinkley with every fibre of my being.

Same. I always thought I'd love the club unconditionally. Relationships come and go, you love and you fall out of love but not with the footy club, or so I thought. This man has single headedly destroyed something for me which I never thought I'd lose. I honestly wish nothing but the worst for that man.

Was it mentioned somewhere if Kenny gets paid out it's capped at 50% of his 2023 contract.

Best case scenario for us, would be tellling him to enjoy the break, don't bother coming back for the preseason, promise to keep paying him throughout 2023 and hope he resigns early on the back of getting one of the other coaching roles.

But if we roll the dice, we'll most likely end up paying him for his full final year, especially given how well he interviews.

I used to think paying out Kenny would pay dividends as a lot of members will support the move by either returning or upgrading their membership.

Not so sure now. I reckon the damage has gone well beyond repair and would take significant efforts both on and off the field to reconnect those of us that have had a gut full over the years.
Yeah, I think a lot of us are in that boat now. Ten years is just exhausting. I no longer recognise the club, and therefore I am no longer invested as I used to be... we've been expecting a change of coach since 2017 ffs!

The saving grace would've been snagging Clarko, or perhaps getting Schofield back this offseason but that looks like pie in the sky now.

When this chapter is eventually over, Koch and Hinkley will probably go down as the most despised people in the history of this club.

Honour the contract he says as he pushes Hayes and Bergman out of the door.
