My tipping is irrelevant and was pretty in line with consensus. The issue is we sh#t the bed in the last 3 minutes. Wrong decisions, bad execution. You can continue backslapping effort for another 20 years but if you want to play finals we need a ruthless approach.
Yeah that’s the reason we have been mediocre for so long, the fans lack a ruthless approach 😂

We have been so predictable in our centre square setups that I fully believe we’ve allowed the opposition to completely work us out.
Only real change has been chucking Fish in there every now and then but generally it’s been a combo of Cripps, Hewett, Walsh, Kennedy, Cerra (who have rarely been fit at the same time) and a sprinkling of Fish.

Last night, through necessity we looked dynamic even though Gawn and Jackson were very good.

I would hope Voss takes something out of that for next season

I think we saw what we have long worried about - our mix previously was just too poor a defensive running group and applied little pressure around the ball if it didn’t win it. It was too easy to spread against us.

Setters and Doc really complemented Cripps well last night. Setters showed he can tag/run with. Some here have said his form lately has been terrible but it’s actually only Q1 last week. He definitely redeemed himself. Doc just applied size and a bit of zip to the midfield and the combination looked better than it has in ages.

Nenwes, owies, Lob

Not finals players……

Last week your post would have been

Martin, Cottrell and Setterfield

Not finals players.

Your actual post should be

Player X, Player X and Player X

Probably not in our best 22 but have to play when we have 14 players unavailable due to injury.

Fisher under real pressure last week went to water, stood up today and was pretty solid. Can only be good for his development this year

I called him flaky last week, and he is, but he sure has played more big games that ever this season. The improvement is undoubted.

You’ll find Weiters about 5-10 metres sheepdogging off Melksham most of the time

Marchbank was not the primary opponent of him, in fact Marchy absolutely destroyed Fritsch

Watching the replay, it looked like Melksham was trying to tag Weitering, and Weiters was trying to be the general/hole filler unless Gawn or Jackson came into the forward line. Ended up being the wrong matchup

That was the filthiest I’ve been losing a game for as long as I can remember…especially seeing Pickett have his little go straight after he kicked the goal.

So much to get down about, but this morning I’ve tried not to focus on the negatives…mostly the terrible lack of composure and poor skills in the last couple of minutes. But there was a lot to like about our effort…pressure was great all night.

Don't agree. Our game vs Sydney has been the best this year.
We looked great in the first half of that game but it was pretty low pressure. Last night was the first time in this modern pressure era I have seen us truly adapt and bring real heat for 4 quarters. Real heat. Not kind of heat. Flst out, always pressing always chasing always pressurising. It was absolutely fantastic and a breakthrough game for us. It took the best midfield in the afl to keep up with us.

Watershed moment. Eye opening moment for Voss. I truly think after the game he thought “Jesus, why didn’t I think of that sooner?”

People who hate on Jack Martin have never made any sense to me. He has done this in other big games for us - 4 in a quarter against the reigning premiers, a 60m bomb to put us infront in round 1 this year.

The bloke has more X-Factor than anyone on our list by some margin and he has ice in his veins. Plays every week when fit. Same goes for McGovern. Just watch his mark and goal after the siren vs Collingwood a few years ago.

Easily the most soul destroying loss of the last decade. Proud of the effort, thought we tried our guts out and we should have won that game. We choked. It hurts.

Reckon that loss will be the one that really galvanises this team.

I'm backing us for the flag!

I thought our game against Freo was our best.

I understand these perspectives from an aesthetics point of view. But in that game the blues and dockers had about the same number of tackles as the blues did on their own last night.

What I’m talking about is the fact we REALLY embraced pressure. In a way I don’t think I’ve ever seen us so. It genuinely felt like a watershed moment to me. And I’ve felt it was our remaining major weakness.

Time will tell of course. But I think the penny dropped.
