Yes I tried to post similar last night, pages wouldn’t even load however likely due to the traffic online post match. That last minute or so from Carlton, very poor really.

There’s something to be said about knowing how to win. They had possession and chipping it around to wind the clock down, one easy target missed and then it’s a contested ball again. They then had a 3 on 1 marking contest, which was fluffed and all of a sudden Melbourne pinch it.

Unlucky in one respect, also largely of their own doing.

It was a horrible final couple of minutes. A finals bound side would easily ice the game and keep possession, we did all we could to not play finals. Melksham out marks 4 Blues players all in the same vincity, goal. A minute later we have a 3 on 1 on the wing (with 3 good contested marking defenders in Marchbank, Young and Weitering going for the ball) and we fist the ball out of bounds, rather than take the very easy mark, 47 seconds left and Melbourne goals.

It was a brutal way to end that game. Today, we should be a confirmed finals team. A far less panicky side would have won last night.

As much as it sucks watching on from a distance, teams have to go through those experiences in order to learn from their mistakes. A game of very fine margins.

They were playing so well up to then, no way I thought they were going to lose.
