Clubs fined for breach of Covid protocols

Wonder if that hack Caroline Wilson will say those clubs aren't taking covid seriously enough

What about players sending in copies of other people's RAT results?

Sounds like they were positive but wanted to play so just sent in a negative result?
"No clubs got a competitive advantage from failing to comply".

Sounds more like the players were lazy and/or rebellious. There's nothing to suggest that players played while positive.

Do we really think if a player like Clayton Oliver, Tom Lynch, Jeremy Cameron, Lachie Neale, Lance Franklin etc test positive but are asymptomatic in the lead up to a Grand Final they/their club would rule them out?

If so they should take the AFL to court and sue for restraint of trade and interfering in doctor patient confidentiality/relationships. Thousands of people all over Australia in everyday society would be interacting with Covid positive people everyday, some without even knowing it.

They deliberately switched positive tests with non-positive tests, and only received this financial penalty?

Jesus christ why is it so hard for you to grasp? They didn't take tests but instead sent in fake negative tests from their friends. Perhaps they had some mild symptoms but sent in a negative test while other teams had multiple players forced to sit out.

Blatant cheating

Blatant chcheating

Nice to not have the Crows as the bad news club for a change. How refreshing.

Especially if they had housemates who were going to be required to also be out if there was a positive test, but should the fake negative get through then just the playing with "illness" misses the game.

It's not how regular society works but it is how sport works that when there has been potential systematic manipulation the onus is on the party that has broken the rules to show there hasn't been an advantage - not for the investigator to have to show a material advantage to their cheating.

They punish cheaters as though it's made winners out of them.

So if I enter a poker tournament with aces up my sleeves, that's OK as long as I don't win?

No, if you cheat it you would be punished as though any success you had was a direct result of your cheating and nothing you achieve in that period influenced would be retained.

The AFL has a long history of bending rules to suit the desired outcome, looking for the quickest loophole or escape clause they can find to have the matter resolved.

Which is what appears to have happened here too, any player who submitted a fake negative result should have been treated as though they were positive and any players who live with them should have been subject to isolation protocols as applicable at the time - and any games that those players featured in during that window should be treated as though the club gained a material advantage.

No competitive advantage?
What other reason would there be for falsifying a test?
I can understand forgetting to lodge, or missing a deadline a couple of times, but using an incorrect picture just sounds like flat out cheating.
There's no way of proving, after the fact, that anyone played while positive, so I don't know how they can categorically say nobody was advantaged.
This stinks.

Meh, not fussed, in 12 months no one is even going to care about some COVID thing. As if the AFL didn't see this coming, clubs in the race to the finals ALWAYS lets just say bend the rules to the highest degree they can get away with. Meh take the fine, poor diadems just means we won't appeal one case next year lol
