Media Swans Talk in the Media 2022

#Ceasar88 posted a Mongrel Punt article earlier this year about the Swans chances of success in 2022. This was a members only article but he copied/pasted the entire article onto Big Footy. HB posted a reply not long later requesting that such articles should not be posted on BF as they are produced for the benefit of paid up members.
Sure, there are some articles on MP that are free to anyone and these can be then put onto BF without issue so in saying that Ticky can post here whatever she likes is not quite true.

You can post the link to a paywalled article at any time as you are directing people to go to the website where the article is published and become a member or subscribe if they want to read it. You cannot copy and paste an article from behind a paywall onto Big Footy so that the website misses out on the traffic for the article. That is what MP got upset about.

It's all good. Mongrel Punt paywalls about 5/7 articles a week, inclusive of game reviews so not all game reviews are behind a paywall. Everything else is freely available.

Unlike the Herald Sun I do link to the MP paywalled articles - because I know a fair few of us on here have access so its worth the while...and unlike the HS the articles in MP actually know what they're talking about and have clearly watched the game and not phoned it in.

No doubt. Reading articles on the MP site is like chalk and cheese to the normal media.
Every now and then you'll find some reasonable journalism in the HS and other mainstream media outlets but they are few and far between.

Understand. Rightly so.

Incorrect. Not all of the articles posted on Mongrel Punt are paywalled and as such can be linked to freely.

However, MP paywalled articles are not to be re-posted - aka: copy/paste of the article after accessing behind the paywall. This is in line with Big Footy copyright rules.

I've just realised that you only showed the link to the MP articles hence if it was a members only read they would not be able to access it fully anyway.
I don't know why I'd thought you pasted the articles here.

An article in the Mercury today told about how a bloke tried to jump a fence and managed to spear himself stuck really badly. He was rescued by three fellows. Good Samaritans. Two of them were James Bell

You're not really paying for the news though. You're paying for the validation.

For example the Mongrel Punt has not once told me anything about the Swans I didn't already know and/or anything that I could learn from Swans fans on here.

It just hits differently when it's coming from neutrals and media sources that typically overlook us.

Paying for the MP isn't paying for news articles, it's supporting an extremely well run AFL information website with wonderfully written articles written by people who ACTUALLY WATCH the games.

If true that the club prefers us play on bigger grounds, I find that really interesting. I think we've played substantially better at the SCG than anywhere else this year.

I was talking about people paying for sports articles, but yes I agree, the neo nazi anti-vax stories have way more effort put into them than most "journalism" today.

It would be over 12 says as we played the 3:40pm game on Sunday and we are playing at 7:50pm on Friday, which is over 12 days (just).
