The contract was fine, it's just the injuries have ruined him over the first 3 years. If his next 2 years are good, nobody will worry about the contract.Whilst a sign of desperate times, that must be one of carltons worst value contracts ever.

Largely agree. He would have kicked 30+ under Voss and that would have got us into finals, possibly top 4.
So no, it's not.
We were clearly unbalanced up forward with three inexperienced small forwards....
Going to be a bit of a wet blanket here but after doing our best 22 in the other thread I really don't think we need to trade for anyone. Maybe Acres if Freo don't want him, I've watched a bit of him this year and he could be a good alternative to O'Brien on the wing. All in all we should hit the draft hard.
How do you get experience into them? You play them. Next year they will be better for it.Largely agree.
Playing three specialist small forwards was just odd, particularly three inexperienced ones.

Jackson is the worst kept secret in the history of the AFL. It's at the point now Freo have already pick him for the round 1 team next year.
Amon will be a hawk.
Not many could even consider Whitfield based on his contract. So he has to decide if he wants to play for one of the few teams that could.
Richmond will most likely end up with one of the GWS excess inside mids.
Fair chance De Goey and Grundy could be moved on from the pies, and they pick up Mcstay, but given their current list payments, and what they would have to contribute to any Grundy deal, unlikely they can lure much else.
Melbourne are searching everywhere to spend the money they had saved for Jackson on a key forward, they have a break out player from the Hawks in the crosshairs, but would have to move heaven and earth to get the hawks to part with him.
Charlie likely to sign new contract before years end, Harry's negotiations might go into next year, but entirely confident they are both staying long term.
Interesting list calls to be made on the lower end, Setterfield's return to form has ramifications. Sholl is very a likely acquisition, can go into the reasons why again, but have covered it before and a few others have made similar point, he'll be a good pick up.
Depending on Marchbank and Govs ability to play out the year, we could have a very quiet offseason.
You remove the expectation that not playing seniors is somehow failing. How do you get experience into them? You play them. Next year they will be better for it.

The year will have been good for him. The fact that his team mates aren’t overlooking him or burning him as an outlet is a good sign. Another season playing in the seniors will give him more experience and let him fine hone his skills.I reckon we need some better outside run. Sure LOB has improved this year, but not to the extent we need him to be.
Fish: here ya goLachie Fogarty: "Hey guys, can I have a go?"
Jack Newnes: "Chuck your Freo jumpers on boys, I've got this".
Mitch McGovern and Lewis Young: "Hey, um, Arrow told us to come down here, what are we doing?"
Lachie Fogarty: "Guys, I'm still here, can anyone hear me?"
Tom De Koning: "Is there some way I can incorporate a jump into this?"
Jack Silvagni: "This seems like a forward drill, you guys know I'm a ruckman now, yeah?"
David Cuningham: "Easy as, watch this.... rip....goddammit."
Lachie Fogarty: "Guys....?"
Largely agree.

Interesting.Make of it what you will, I'm not sure as no ITK has said anything...
Heard a rumour from a client... Not sure of the validity, but they do have connections...
Gov maybe thinking about taking he's family home to WA...
Client, doesn't think it will happen... But, believes he's contemplating it...
There was talk earlier on in the year about the club's concern over Gov's professionalism with his rehab. There was later a rumour that he was potentially seeking a trade back to SA. Maybe now he's thinking WA? Personally don't see it happening but an interesting one to keep our eyes on.Make of it what you will, I'm not sure as no ITK has said anything...

Gov would not command anymore than 30+ I would think. Guy is a liability for any club picking him up injury wise. If we have put the work in and he looks like holding up. Prob more use to us on the list than the trade table. Has been a bust so far that one. Its frustrating because he clearly makes us a better backline.Given his connection with Teague and Eddie I could certainly see a scenario where he found himself in a different environment this year, and while he may not want to follow either of those blokes specifically, he might not be overly engaged in the culture of the club, making a move to another club viable.
I'd be a bit disappointed to see it, on the basis that he has a pretty transformative impact on our backline when he plays, but considering his propensity to miss games it's more "Oh, that sucks a bit" than "Geez, that kills us!".
What's the asking price for Gov under contract? Pick in the 18-25 range? I feel anything less we just hold onto him for another year.

Then we keep him, he owes us big time.Gov would not command anymore than 30+ I would think. Guy is a liability for any club picking him up injury wise. He's contracted. Was never going to be delisted, if your comment relates to today's delistings. He might, however, be on the trade table - if you've got anything to suggest otherwise, would be interested to hear.Dow staying
