Have been in discussions with Fischer, Sholl and Acres. Nothing final yet as there are a few Clubs make big moves, so a few lessor lights could be on the market for a steal as clubs try to clear cap space and acquire picks.
Acres the toughest one, as we do not want to lose our 2nd rounder.
In terms of players being traded out, we don’t have many left we’d happily see the back of that would gain us anything useful in terms of trade value. We’d love to get another second round pick, or early third. But don’t want to spend any future picks until draft night, just in case a player has slipped that we are keen on.

Doesn’t look easy to trade in 3 players without using our first 2 picks or future picks.

Jones compo would be one…

I hope of the players we trade in, a couple could be experienced from a successful club like Sydney, Geelong and Richmond. Mitch Duncan, Breust a player like that would be the cream we probably need. Hoping Austin can pull someone in out of nowhere
I’d like us to look at something similar.

Bring in a mature head with finals experience to be a steadying influence for a couple of years eg Hodge at Brisbane.

I really don't like that we're not being linked with any ruck alternatives
The ruck talk always happens late, usually a swapping of nothing picks for spare parts ruckmen.
That said, if we land the target we want. Clubs view is we have 3 genuine ruckmen (Pitt, TDK, Mirkov) we have the Jsos special cover. And hardly used yet, but if we have a fitness wave through our backline, Young is more than capable.
Ruck depth isn’t seen as a high priority.
And first choice rucks available at the moment are way over priced.

Any interest in the likes of Flynn, Briggs or Meeks?

In all honesty, none that I’ve heard of.
Club is really impressed by the season TDK put together when they weren’t expecting him to be ready to assume the mantle.
Recency bias has a lot of people off Pitt, but his early season form pre injury was very good, and don’t think he ever got back to 100% afterwards. Club assumes he will be better again next year.
Mirkov was always seen as a project piece, and has surpassed expectations.

Jsos continues to prove to be a sufficient in game back up. And as said before, Young has the ability if needs be.

Don’t think we’d want to carry more than that on a list.

Meek is strongly rumoured to be a part of the Jackson trade. Makes perfect sense, he is already behind Darcy, but has shown himself to be AFL ready. Gawn is not getting any younger and if Jackson leaves, he has no heir apparent. Would be an excellent career path.

Briggs as much KPP as ruck, and Flynn not out of the discussion for GWS first choice ruck. Doubt they would be moving this year

All depends on where a certain magpie ends up.

I get you, but find the Magpies situation astounding. Carrying salary for Treloar and trying to remember if Stephenson. Still super tight on cap, yet shaping up to pay five years or so of $300k plus of Grundy’s recently gifted salary. Also struggle to see where Demons get the long term cap from with youngsters developing and commanding greater salaries.

What are they paying for McStay?

Astounding indeed and to think they really want McStay. And apparently right into Taranto and Bobby Hill as well.

Pies aren’t paying for Stephenson.
Save 250 a year off a mil still leave you with a 750 you didn’t have. Not an ideal situation, but clears a lot of cap space.
Demons might not be able to match the huge figure Freo is offering, but they have definitely structured their salary based on what they deemed a reasonable offer for a Jackson. As such, him leaving to allow them some wriggle room.

I thought they still were after he re-signed until end of 2023 with the Pies before being traded to North.

Good stuff Forty3

And all of that makes complete sense and sensible list management. Would still like an experience head or two added for composure in tight games and onfield leadership but would probably be eaiser to do late in the piece in trade week.

Any updates on movement of any off-field team? Would be great to shore up some more assistant coaching ranks.
