Henry has looked pretty average in games I’ve seen.

Not really a pure small forward, not productive enough up the field to play as a high half forward forward or wing.

Beautiful field kick, but there’s just not a whole to his game. I can see why other Docker players have overtaken him.

He also cried when SOS bid on him.

Hard pass.

Would prefer us to chase Oliver Henry... More suited to our needs...

I forgot Carroll was a WA kid. Like him a lot but just not sure of his fit. I’d trade him for VIC lad Hayden Young. That kid will be special.
Young is elite and Carroll has potential, but has shown nothing in relative terms compared to young. For them to even blink we’d also need to throw in a future first and that would only be if he ever wanted to come home.

Puppy stage was hard. Taco was great, but hyper.

We had lots of help from an amazing trainer and he's now the most incredible little doggy.

Turns 1 in a couple of weeks.
FMD - can you send this trainer to Carlton so we don’t have 15 players on our injury list every week???

It comes from the post I quoted “Setterfield upgrade” IMO more like a Newnes upgrade - hence Newnes 2.0 which I believe is a more apt comparison.
Do u believe he’s more than a “B” grade player?

No, he's B grade but Newnes was C grade all day long. B grade players are more than worthy.

We need a dangerous smallish forward....player like Elliot or Shai Bolton

Hawks had Rioli and Puopolo....what a combo that was.

These players are match winners. Strong overhead, quick off the mark and agile as ****. Defenders worst nightmare.

Hoping Motlop will become a similar type in a couple of years. Maybe durdin as well.

Fish should be that player by now. Reckon he needs to do more power training and a bit more muscle. Not sure about overhead marking though. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him take a mark over the top.

Maybe we should target one now or end of next season.

Was chatting to my mate and he passed on a bit of info to me.

We're interested in potentially drafting a number of VFL boys - Leui and Cahill in particular.

Expect a trade request to come from Acres any day now, his guess is between Wednesday and Friday.

Voss is unhappy about the long terms deals on Martin/Williams/Gov, and has been very vocal on not offering long term contracts moving forward for any players traded into the club. If they're coming to Carlton for the contract then we've picked the wrong player, they need to want to play for the club. We're trying to build a culture of players taking unders both salary and contract length wise.

Bit of talk coming out now that Williams is apparently on the trade table, which I personally don't see happening but it does fit in with what I just mentioned.

Following on from above with the culture surrounding contracts, this is part of the reason why Stocker was moved on. My understanding is he was offered a 1 year deal on pretty much draftee salary ($150k). Been talked about on here a bit already by others, but Stocker's management were not happy, they were looking for 2-3 years on higher wage. There were other teams snooping around and offering better contracts than us even before he was delisted, so 100% he ends up at a different club next year.

Continuing on Stocker, the writing was on the wall for several months. Cripps gave him a massive spray during the Collingwood game pretty much for being a FIGJAM and not a team player, which is still so surprising to me. He was told by the club for several years to work on his endurance and aerobic capacity yet either didn't take it seriously or just didn't do enough. Despite his heroics and physicality, he was a liability for the VFL/AFL with his inability to run out games. That's sort of the gist of it but we'll never really know exactly why unless it comes straight from Stock's mouth.

It's sad that Stocker couldn't bounce back and have a career best year similar to LOB/Cottrell. The feedback the coaching group received from them two was that communication and guidance on specific roles was much more clear than under Teague. Hoping in 2023 we can see the same for Honey and Dow.

I'll just edit in this last bit I forgot, I've got Philp as my breakout star of 2023. Voss raved about him and apparently he was very close for to the rd 1 side for 2022. Just hoping he stays fit. Makes sense with his foot speed, you can see we lack that and the difference it makes when Fisher is around the ball.

Don't shoot the messenger just passing on what info I get told - Go Blues :blueheart:

Leui and Cahill as possible draftees?

Cahill has been good. Leui missed a bit of the season. Maybe needs more time and look at MSD.

I'd look at Cincotta. Impressed with his effort.

No long term contracts to bring in good players from other clubs? That seems to be the norm nowadays across the comp as a whole so I hope that’s flexible

Only one on long term contract now is Williams, Gov is done after 2023, Martin is 2 years left on much lower salary.

Liked the look of Cahill in the final at Vic Park, don’t watch much VFL so not sure about his consistency but he’s a very solid unit with pace

Draftee salary for Stocker, that’s just silly. One year sure, put him on the rookie list to prove himself and work exceptionally hard but he’s not a draftee.

Rumour makes sense from the perspective that since we recruited Voss the club has only retained and recontracted players on the basis that they want to be here as opposed to working anywhere. If Stocker was fielding offers from other clubs, why in absolute hell did we delist him?

Don't like Voss getting involved in list management. Lloyd needs to step in and ensure that if he's playing a role it's that of the head coach, not someone who thinks they know best overruling those employed to do a job.

I like rewarding VFL players for effort or potential, but if we're going to do that why did we delist Hayes?

We'll see, I guess.
