I forgot Carroll was a WA kid. Like him a lot but just not sure of his fit. I’d trade him for VIC lad Hayden Young. That kid will be special.

Hayden Young, the former pick 7 who re-signed earlier this year through to 2027?

Not very likely…

Adam Cerra is a good player and can play good footy, long May it continue, I have no issue with you or anyone talking up Cerra, I get frustrated at the talking down of other players or the putting down of others, to pump up our own. Taranto won the B&F at GWS in a season they made the GF and we had a poster saying he doesn’t have any competition there.

If we didn’t grab Cerra last year, we would be all over Taranto and if he picked us, this place would be talking him up as the next superstar.

Hes a really good player, that’s all.
He also dominated (35 touches) in that losing grand final in 2019 as a 21 year old while his teammates had given up.

He's has an an indifferent couple of years, but he’s an absolute gem and still has a few gears to get to.

We’re all a bit biased, but their are plenty of posters putting their heads in the sand and trying to reconcile Richmond nabbing a young star by pretending he isn’t any good. There’s as many negative comments on Hoppers, who is also an exceptional player. It’s laughable.

He’s not that good. He’s a very good player but all Australians are top 8 or so mids that season. He’s not that
Only a matter of time really.

Players don’t always jag them early on in their careers and in Taranto’s case he’s also spent considerable time up forward as the Giants have had significant midfield depth to pad out their squad.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Taranto dominate his first year at Richmond in similar fashion to Tom Mitchell in his first year at the Hawks in 2017.

Can you not even read the messaging you just responded to? Those are Tarantos averages across a season, not just a four game snippet.

Taranto just this year had a run of games averaging more possessions, more goals, more tackles than those specific four games you mentioned.

If you can't comprehend what I'm saying, why engage?

Taranto's best numbers were three years ago....and yes, it was a very good year for him.

I'm sure you can access them as readily as me.

All I've said - from the start is that Cerra's ceiling is just as high as Taranto's and that the 2022 season showed there isn't much in it, leaving aside Cerra being best part of 2 years younger.

Is Taranto the Tigers' saviour? I doubt it given the profile of their list and who's on the way out in the next 1-2 years.

GWS 2022 midfield had Kelly, the Rabbit (back in decent form), Hopper, Perryman, Ward, Green, O'Halloran, de Boer, Tanner, Whitfield.

Tigers 2023 mids - go for it.....

2022 Taranto vs Cerra.

Taranto can't kick. He is a clanger man. Give it 2 years and you will see why Cerra is by far a better player

Taranto vs Cerra comparisons are pointless because they don't play the same amount of game time in the middle, in the guts around the ball. Cerra played on the wing some, Taranto doesn't. Amazing that both have very similar contested ball numbers. Cerras would be higher if he played more in the guts

Tarranto is older than Cerra, but if the trade value was similar, I would take Taranto everyday of the week
If our coaching group play Cerra more in the midfield next season l believe we will see the best of Cerra eg the last game against the Pies.

Cerra is a better user and his best football at 22 is still to come.
ln 12 mths time l believe we will see Cerra elevate himself to the next level, both did not have their best season in 22.

Exactly. Cerra is ours. Taranto will be theirs. Both are great players. Taranto would have the edge (very very slightly) in contested work. He’s also better resting up forward and more likely to have scoreboard impact. On the other hand, Cerra is cleaner by foot and is better on the wing and off half-back. It’s not about who’s better, it’s about who compliments their system the best. We needed a Cerra type more than we need a Taranto type. I’m very happy with how Cerra compliments our other midfielders.

But Taranto and Hopper are beautiful additions to Richmond anyway you try to spin it.

I suspect Cerra was challenged by Voss partly due to his mediocre form in the middle of the year and partly due to injuries which rendered him our second or third best mid by default.

Needs to be played around the ball where he can use his vision and awareness in contested situations. He's renowned for his kicking, but I was more impressed with his hands around stoppages this year. Some beautifully weighted passes executed under extreme pressure.

I believe Cerra was carrying a groin issue through the middle part of the season

TBF Taranto has played a lot as a forward for GWS, which would hurt his numbers also...

Why are we even comparing Taranto to Cerra in the first place? [emoji2955]
Silly season and lack of a grade trade targets due to $$ and draft capital.

Means we don't know to do with ourselves. The alternative would be interacting with really real people. In the flesh. Can't have that.
