He's got goal sense Motlop, sets him apart from the other small forwards on our list. Need more of it.

Just needs to have a massive preseason and I’m really hoping the coaching group give him some tough love. He seems to like a challenge.

Henry is a fringe player , might end up being o.k. but no certainty. Whispered to be going to Geelong and Collingwood not overly fussed.

So two players you might get a second rounder for a Coleman medallist with plenty of time left in the game.

Personally I wouldn't trade Harry for north's pick 1. For Josh daicos and Oliver Henry not in a million years.

I feel a bit dirty just thinking about it.

Have you got something that suggests one of these has been elevated to the senior list? (Genuine question - I just haven't seen anything that suggests one of these has been promoted)

Agree with the above and I thought Honey is also a rookie, Owies still technically a rookie at moment but will probably be upgraded as one of our ND selections.

Rookie upgrades are no longer done as a ND pick, but they can count for up to 2 of your required 3 picks.

From everything I’ve read since Saturday night people are head over heels thinking he’s a steal cause he got a few stats on the weekend.
If he was better than average he wouldn’t be the kind Freo would be low balling in his ‘prime’ regardless of Jackson. If he was worthwhile of keeping in their minds they’d be coughing up the extra 100k a year or whatever it took, plenty of ways to clear salary cap space on a list.

Look maybe I'm wrong but I think you're overstating the excitement levels here.

There's bound to be some excitement when we're linked to players coming into the club, but I reckon most have accepted that Acres is what he is - a capable footballer who will add to our best side in a position of need.

I don't think anyone's claiming he is or will be a star. And on the money reported, he doesn't have to be.

You'd certainly be pissed when he kicks 40+ goals for the next however many years, and rightly so.

It would be a horrendous list management decision to trade him.

Blake Acres is a handy role player and an upgrade on O’Brien in terms of everything bar foot skills imo but he’s no more than a middle of the road role player.

He's a slightly better, slightly younger, slightly newer Jack Newnes.

He's basically Blake Newness...

We all love Ed... If he has re-signed good news for him...

Just can't see where he fits other than VFL... He wouldn't be best 22 anymore and our depth have probably gone past him...
He'd just be taking a list spot of a kid that we could start developing...

If it's for his leadership for the kids, give him a club role or a VFL contract...

The other mature players that have been discussed Breust, Gunston, Davis and Goldstein, would have all been best 22 players...

Motlop this season had some really good moments in matches, he also went missing for large parts of matches. I did see a kid that looked like he wasn’t quite ready for AFL trying his best and showing some really good glimpses of a quality player.

Motlop who I thought wasn’t quite ready, who needs to build up AFL quality fitness, was able to get a goal a game, it’s a good platform to build upon.

Motlop really impressed me and was every bit as impressive as other young forwards like Ginnivan, Pickett and Weightman were in their first seasons. He may not come on as much as those guys have but there is plenty there to get excited about

Only speaking for myself here but I've never doubted Marchbank's ability when fit and can't say the same for Cuningham, still a tease even when fit.

Interesting take. While the sample size was small, our mid forward connection was improved when Cuningham was on the park. He has a presence that few of the others have. I am not blindly advocating he walks in to the team, but if he can “bring it” we will be a better team.

While he hasn’t changed clubs, I draw parallels with Brisbane’s Lincoln McCarthy. Early years at Cats a short highlight reel, and now a quality forward threat, and structurally important link in a contending team. It would have been easy to let him go in the current climate, but it is a gamble that can reap huge rewards.

His contract length has only been assumed. Fair chance he is actually contracted give the lack of movement. I like Fog, have done since pre draft days, but clearly is not in the mix for a permanent best 22 spot any time soon.

Perhaps there's some personal stuff going on and the club are just trying to manage the conversation/announcement in a way that doesn't cause undue angst for the bloke?
