I'd go back and look at some of the 'takes' our supporters had on Stengle in his time here.
'To slow', 'doesn't run enough' etc...
We pumped games iinto a fading Eddie rather than give Stengle a proper run out - which might have been why he swerved off path as well.

We just “won” the spoon and he responded to his club and coach demanding players take their off season seriously by getting caught with drugs in a taxi.
Good on him for turning it around but the club had no choice.

His speed hasn't improved but definitely got himself looking and playing fitter and covering more ground so credit to him.
Maybe some of our 'supporters' on here, should stop writing talented players off?

i’m not sure why people say this as if its some sort of glowing endorsement of our club…
Basically its exa tly like saying
“Our club is too shit to get the best out of its young players so they need to go elsewhere, to a club that can, to do so!”..
How is that in anyway a positive?..
I dont care about them now either, but we need to start learning from previous mistakes instead of repeating them over and ****ing over again.

Some players take longer to get AFL fit I guess. There's no coincident Fogarty is playing a lot better footy after getting himself fit, even when he was struggling for form in the 1st half, he was still getting to a lot more contest but instead of attacking the ball, he was trying to out muscle his opponents and giving away a lot of stupid free.

Poor example.
Richmond was stacked to the rafters with small forward/mids though.. all in their prime and winning premierships.. there was never a chance a young draftee was gonna push their way into that side at that point in time no matter how good they were..

Had to draw the line somewhere.
I do agree with the groupthink here our club probably couldn't help him. Because Eddie went back home to Melbourne and no coincidence Stengle had the issues in the year Eddie left.
And now back living with him.
