Are GWS looking to use picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 purely for the draft? Or do they want to get some players in via trade?

Maybe we could upgrade pick 33 or 43 for one those later picks and offer up Byrne-Jones or Bonner?

We genuinely need to trade away a player for 2nd round. Can't see it happening another way.

Hayes, Drew, Bonner, DBJ, Farrell. DBJ with most value in that lot perhaps as an All-Australian and club BnF although he was off it best this year. I know he just resigned but yeah either him or Drew

In all seriousness North have actually done fine out of this deal. So have West Coast. GWS showed up, bent over and handed over the lube to make it work for everyone else, and I salute them for it.

Yeah I think north have done well. What more can you hope for to get for a player that wants out than a similar pick + a future 1st on top. That’s a good deal.

Also west coast, despite people knocking them to get out of pick 2 and the private school vic boys and into hewett territory , whose not far behind, if at all those vic boys plus get another pick. That’s good for them.

Ports given up a lot, but the fact we get future 2nds and 3rds back helps a lot,

In the end rozee butters jhf Bergman sinn to look forward too in our midfield.

I really rate that group of players as a future midfield. High end young talent there.

Jones is overated when you watch him closely. Don't let the appearance fool you, struggles with to much pressure and his disposal is poor. He got by in junior footy having a bigger body. Port have alot better younger players I'd be wanting before him.

Not sure how this deal gets done but I think Port will find a way with picks. As the deadline get closer North will settle for a bit less.

If the big mega trade falls through (and seems like it probs does), I dont see how you get that. I get North fans want blood but JHF is a sunk cost at this point, if you can get 8, F1 and 33, I think they just take that and push on. I cant see you getting better than that next year and as a rebuilding team, you get the benefit of a year of development into pick 8 and 33 and not waste your time on a kid who is absolutely leaving next year. still the 2nd most expensive trade of all time if that happens.

The AFL may have to bend its own rules/make an allowance to make JH-F's transfer to Alberton possible, but it will happen.

It would be a very unhealthy look for the league if we had to endure another 12 months of this drama.

By all accounts the starting point for GWS is picks #3 + #12 for #1. So far that's just North and GWS picks, nothing to do with Port.

North fans - realistically would you accept 8,15 and 18?

Port F1 + 33 for 15 and 18

Could try get 12 instead of 15, but might have to add something extra to GWS.

North get their “3 first round picks”
Very similar to Richmond’s offer last year
9,17,28 + CCJ (F2 equivalent)

Lions sent picks 18,19 + F2 to Melbourne for F1,25,68,69

Melbourne finished 9th in 2020

Can’t see Port getting this done unless they can get West Coast’s pick 2 or the Giants’ pick 3. At the end of the day, JHF will have to be a very high pick of a series of guaranteed good firsts. Port won’t get away with F1 whilst they load up in experience for a crack at the flag next year.

Pick 1 + contracted - attitude issues = around what they paid for him. Obviously 1 is already theirs, so 2 seems fair. Or 3 and something on top around pick 20.

You're legit one of the top 5 most toxic posters I've seen on this thread. Cheap pot shots at North add literally zero value to discussions.

But regardless, your proposals highlight the problem port have. They don't have enough capital to make all of their trades.

Trading your F1 + 33 for 15 + 18 won't happen, GWS will reject it for sure. So JHF for 8 + 15 + 18 isn't even a viable option.

In order to get these trades done, Port need to get more draft capital. Without the permission to add a F2 that means the only remaining option is trading out players.

But 1st rounders for GWS, however they are the same picks. Which one is it?

You are now changing the narrative. Realised your earlier point was incorrect, now trying to pick other holes.

Problem is, a lot of teams do not like this years draft, in the fact it’s very even apart from Ashcroft (no other standouts). Why do you think NM and WC are open to splitting 1 and 2?
That’s the reason why a F1 from Port plus a 2nd rounder this year could entice a club like GWS which has 5 top 20 picks into splitting.

Question remains if North would be interested but it shouldn’t have caused this much confusion or angst provided everyone understood the 2022 draft. YIKES
