Theres no obvious quality difference between 5 and 7 but if we think hawks will take clark or humphrey and we want them then there is.
I still think we would only do that type of trade (moving up to 5) with picks not players and on draft night itself not now.

Ironically, the best on-paper outcome for us is taking him in the draft. We get Henry for what we were prepared to give up anyway, and a rival club gets no compensation for a best 25 player.

In trying to avoid giving Geelong a leg up, the Pies may unwittingly do just that.

Exactly. I understand why the pies are frustrated but its cutting off your nose to spite your face. If we get him in the draft anyway they will look silly.

I have probably been the hardest pushing that.

If he can find his past form he will be fine... Still won't have much of an outside game.

If we gave him a 7 year deal, my head would probably explode though.

I said earlier on here that he wouldn't get a game for us this year on his form.

I watched Hopper + Bruhn very, very closely this year... Neither impressed me.

That's not to say that things can't change because Hopper was probably not fully fit and Bruhn was basically blacklisted from the middle of the ground.

Just purely going off what I saw this year with my own eyes.

I think what it means is we trade 7 directly back to them but if its a 3 club trade where they get a different pick we can.
Ie lets say we trade 7 and something for 5
St kilda trade 9 and something for 7 (could be any club)
Gc get 9 and picks from the other 2 clubs
Geel get 5 saints get 7
Is legal
But if 7 goes straight back to gc it isnt legal.

Parfitt is too good a player to not be playing AFL level every week. He probably won’t get to do that at Geelong if everyone is fit and well. Seems a bit of a waste.

That's a downgrade on Tuohy.

McKenna may be a slight downgrade on Tuohy...but McKenna is 26 and Tuohy 32.

That difference is relevant.
