I don't want him to leave either but I also want him to now get what he can whilst he can. He'd be absolutely perfect for a young team up there too.
What a joke. Why would Tuohy uproot his family for some extra bob that will barely cover the increased cost of living when he could be a back to back premiership player. That's a rhetorical question.

Because they have convinced themselves that he's worth more than 25, so everybody else must too, including Geelong, and therefore that Geelong are deliberately dudding them.

He was dumped from the seniors and they think he's worth the world.

What a bunch of nuffies pies fans are.

You think they will back down? They have ramped it and ramped it up. I told that other muppett... all they have wanted to do was cut the red wire.. tehy have driven it here. They have acted like Putin ... and like Putin ... do you think they are suddenly going to develop common sense?

The oen thing I will say ... the deal we have done to get 25 was extraordinarily expensve. Its contributing to this situation and we have noting else to give to massage the deal

Yeah they certainly have ramped up the rhetoric which i think is ill advised.
We will find out tomorrow whether they are bluffing or whether they are genuinely willing to let him walk for nothing.

Im like you i thought when we paid what we did for #25 we must have had an agreement to on trade it for henry so it puts that at odds. But that said while i think we overpaid for #25 on pure metrics i like that a)it takes the future 1st out of play and b) in the event that henry goes to the draft he might not have got to 38, he should get to 25 and pies know it which increases our leverage here.

Hopefully it gets done for 25 and change tomorrow.

I dont think he will go and if he was going to we'd have heard about it by now. I was just pointing out that with our vets out of goodwill we usually let them go if they want to and our history shows that.

Agree - there were many facets to our GF win but I think the versatility that Tuohy, Duncan and Smith brought was pivotal IMHO
As much as I like Parf he's probably the most expendable............
MOC still learning and will end up a very good player, I'd rather Parfitt than the unknown entities we just traded in. Plus the coach and assistant coaches and the other players love both of these players.

If he only gets offered a year with us but 2 years there on $150K pa more then it would be a tempting offer I would have thought.

Well I'd imagine they thought they could get 7 from us somehow, so they want at least the 18 they originally allegedly rejected. Would explain their complete and utter refusal to accept anything other than what they originally wanted.

They're not going to touch Henry.

I agree. If henry goes to the ND (and it will be ND not psd because hes more chance of getting to us that way) no chance do gws pick him in the teens with the retention issues they have. No interstate side will touch him either.

I think the only small chance of anyone before #25 taking him would be hawks at #24 as they have miles of cap space and can be campaigners sometimes, but honestly i really doubt it (and we can always live trade up above 25 on the night if we need to). I think he will get to us there if it comes to that.

I’ve been worried about him since he added an extra year too. If he doesn’t get games I reckon he’s heading west.

Same here he is a priority signing.

I am with you. I would be suprised if he went (don’t think it will happen) but would not be shocked at all given it will be a personal decision (certainty, sun, role?) and supported by the club. Again not expecting it but…

Yes. Was thinking how he fits into our ( current) mix.
Has limited strings to his bow.
Definitely a ‘watch this space’ player with a degree of trade value for a team needing extra mf grunt.

No f*cking way...

That's...that's beyond comprehension. They really are making up the Pick 38 nonsense. Mack will clear it up when he gets interviewed post draft, IMO.

Wait, this also means they really were serious that they wanted a pick ABOVE his original pick. It was literally basically the same pick he got drafted at...and they refused it? That's beyond incompetence. That's utter stupidity.

They may well have thought they could bluff their way into a fr1 (most clubs rate next years draft above this year's).
We were clearly always trading 18 it was just a matter of to which club.
I can believe we offered it to the pies and they said 'no we would rather a future 1st' and we then turned around and traded it to gws (who were happy to move as they wanted collateral to get up to 1) and then did the brisbane trade as well to lock thr future 1st out.

We must have thought that at push come to shove the pies will take 25 and change and tomorrow we will see if we were right

Yeah agree with all of that for sure.

Imagine the thinking in the 'war room' (is that what they call it on Fox Footy?)

List manager: "Alright guys, we're on the clock, I really rate young Phillipou. He's been outstanding in our interviews, he ticks all the boxes, and I think we can all agree he's a 15 year player for us"

Random Intern: "Um....sir....What about Ollie Henry? He'll cost $500k and he'll only be here 1 year, but wouldn't it be funny to piss of 'Geelol' and their supporters?"

List manager: "Hadn't considered that, but you've sold me on that alone. Put the pick in, we're taking Oliver Henry"

I imagine this is how Matt Rendell's brain works.
That is the wildest rumour of this entire trade period.... That Rendell has a brain

Well we only have one more day of this. If we don't get Henry, hopefully we get him with P25 in the ND, but either way we've had a great trade period.

One more day of this and then back to watching the GF replay for five months… with a bit of a break to work out who we draft at #7.

I think this is the good life.

Hawthorn in - 7, 25, 27, 33
Collingwood in - 24, Mitchell
Geelong in - 6, Henry

My go at a three way, would make GW look like he’s had some sort of win. Obviously requires Esava out. Gives Hawks pick for the rebuild.

Got to make some time to watch a few games of Henry, Bowes and Bruhn playing for their old teams.

We delisted Nick Stevens who could have played the medium running backman. Taller and quicker than Tuohy. But very hard to replace a gun like Tuohy.
Tuohy will get a one year deal with us. We need to start reducing the number of 30+ guys in a controlled way and create space for the next generation coming through. If the Suns offer Tuohy a two year deal with potentially a coaching gig to follow then he'd be silly not to jump at it.

I’m excited for McKenna to hopefully come in but I’m not planning on his impact next year. He hasn’t played for two years so I’d think he’ll need a bit of time to adjust back into the game.
He’s only 26 so plenty of time if he’s happy to stay here, hopefully the Irish boys can make him feel at home.

Then again, they threw Pick 18 away?!

True. If it gets down to an eleventh hour decision between getting nothing or getting something (even if not quite to their liking) then they would be negligent to not take what they can get. Agree they have screwed this up royally though.
