Stack like Martyn had his papers stamped a long way out. Martyn won a B&F as an inside mid but played the entire season at half back because they knew he was not fast enough to play midfield. It didn't work at half back, but he was left there. If put back in the middle he would have played far better than he did at half back.

Stack was the same, tried forward but left there when at some stage in the year his papers were stamped as well. Sure his return to the club under fit started it, but other things must have happened to enforce the decision. If he was played across half back he, like Martyn his natural position, he would have been a much better player and made the decision to cut him even more difficult.

Don’t really think winning the vfl really means anything in relation to being an afl level caliber player, or even meaning they can play in an afl midfield

Other guys that have won our vfl bnf and higher awards, Matt Dea, Townsend, Aarts, Miles

Guys like Gribble, Miles and Townsend have taken out the entire vfl comps vfl awards but all but Miles unable to play at afl level midfields at any capacity

The decision to have Martyn play half back was about having him the best chance of becoming a player at afl level, and you seem to think that players also don’t have input in the positions they play
The final decisions are made by the coaches but it’s also a decision made by the players as well

What is the point of continuing to play Martyn in the centre at vfl level when it’s starving guys who have genuine attributes to play in the midfield at afl level like Sonsie, Dow, Ross and setting those guys backwards who could make it

If you want one example of what a 'Richmond man' is, I'll remind you of Shane Mumford leading up to the 2019 Grand Final.

His last match, murmurs he was going to go all Alaistair Lynch on our players. Within the first minute of the Grand Final, he gets possession, and Trent Cotchin prowled and pounced on him, pressing his 110kg frame firmly into the dirt, Dion Prestia swarms in and presses his forearm into Mummy's face and gave away a free kick.

Yes, GWS got possession, but that was a statement, theres no mucking around here.

Geelong on the other hand, beat our seconds team in 2021, regular home and away match, and I saw Selwood, Danger, Hawkins and Scott high fiving and huggin on the bench like they won the Grand Finals.

Says a lot about them.

Agree, as I said his papers were stamped. He was never going to be a good half back though, way to slow and as you say he would have stopped others from progressing in their better positions.

Bullshit. Stack was jailed because he knowingly and deliberately broke the the terms of his WA entry permit. A WA non indigenous woman was also jailed around the same time, for the same offence. Get off your soapbox.

That's incorrect. There were heaps of people who were fined for the same and worse acts breaching Covid rules in WA and weren't thrown in jail. He was made "an example of" when bail/fine were a perfectly viable option. In the end he got a fine but the judge wanted to see him "stew" in jail for weeks. I stand by my original statement so you can stick your soapbox right up your ass mate.

Also, the woman you mentioned who went to jail, smuggled herself across the state border in the back of a truck. Hardly a similar comparison. She deserved exactly what she got.

Stack's papers weren't stamped at all. Xavier Clarke said about 3 weeks ago he was likely to be given a contract.
