Stack like Martyn had his papers stamped a long way out. Martyn won a B&F as an inside mid but played the entire season at half back because they knew he was not fast enough to play midfield. It didn't work at half back, but he was left there. If put back in the middle he would have played far better than he did at half back.
Stack was the same, tried forward but left there when at some stage in the year his papers were stamped as well. Sure his return to the club under fit started it, but other things must have happened to enforce the decision. If he was played across half back he, like Martyn his natural position, he would have been a much better player and made the decision to cut him even more difficult.
