There's no universe in which this lack of information from the club is not poor. Yes I entirely understand it changes nothing about Shannon's recovery. But it treats him like an afterthought and shows no interest from the club in engaging with the supporters about how the playing group is travelling overall.Hash tug triggered.
Yeah this one does feel a bit silly. I probably gave up on looking Geelong injury prognoses/updates around 5 years ago (this thread is more like an unofficial whispers gold mine) but I can understand the frustration if there's expectation. There's no universe in which this lack of information from the club is not poor. Fans like to be invested in the stories of players as they progress, and enjoy the hope that is generated in following their journeys. For many, it is a fulfilling part of 'following' the hoops. And if it's good enough for 17 other clubs to be so much better than this, I really don't understand why the GFC has to behave in such a deliberately opaque fashion on so many occasions around injury issues.
The real question is how much can we make WCE overpay for him?Would West Coast really want to bring in what appears to be another injury-prone player?
Not saying Neale is, but I think the Eagles might be a little conservative with their choices of who to bring in considering their injury run over the last two years.

Says it all that the 'smoke and shadows behind the windows' (thanks, Travis) about how players are going that is posted here is a more prompt and reliable source of info than the club itself when it comes to injury news.Yeah this one does feel a bit silly. I completely agree and want him to do really well for us... But if he doesn't and WCE want to give us the picks to get another Cameron...I'd rather wait and see what Neale can deliver with a clean run in the seniors... unless we get a "Godfather" offer for him.
Even if West Coast were desperate to pick him up, he wouldn't even net us the equivalent of one of the three picks we used on Cameron.I completely agree and want him to do really well for us... But if he doesn't and WCE want to give us the picks to get another Cameron...
So I am not at all convinced we can get 4 weeks out of Ceglar. He simply can not hold up. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a late change this week!
That begs the question - who rucks!
Is it simply Blitz plays that first ruck role? Or use Sav as main ruck?
Issue is that we use our weapon with Blitz which is now crucial to the way we play?
And for Sav he needs to stay in one position to give him a chance of extending his career?
So maybe it is SDK? Gasp - holding breath for no injuries!
Think he might be a late out… and if not there is no way he lasts 4 weeks.
There is as much chance of Knevitt being the main ruck as there is of SDK being given that role.So I am not at all convinced we can get 4 weeks out of Ceglar. He simply can not hold up. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a late change this week!

You are not one for hypotheticals then?

Until then I point you to one man.You are not one for hypotheticals then?
I will come back and ask the question when he is announced as out…![]()
See now these are practical suggestions. I'd even consider just letting him cruise around the ground on a ride-on lawn mower. If we are to assume that Stanley will miss the next 4 weeks, then I'm going out on a limb and suggesting over that same 4 week period, Ceglar will be lucky to squeeze out 6-8 quarters of footy.
Our best chance will be to load up on all the medical tape we can get our hands on at the club, and provide extra reinforcement around all joints. I'd also consider lodging a special request with the AFL to see if they'll allow us to put Ceglar in one of those giant inflatable bubble balls. Might limit his agility but it's the only way to keep the bloke from dropping a few body parts out on the park.
The bloke moves between contests like Forrest Gump in calipers. Run Johnny Run
Bubble boy would find a way to roll the ride on mower, and undertake significant pruning of limbs on the likes of Jezza and Hawkins.See now these are practical suggestions. I'd even consider just letting him cruise around the ground on a ride-on lawn mower.

Sleepless nights ahead thinking about Ladhams, Draper, O'Brien and Ryan no doubt.Bubble boy would find a way to roll the ride on mower, and undertake significant pruning of limbs on the likes of Jezza and Hawkins.
The assertion from some that he has 4 weeks of footy in him just has "incident" written all over it.
We have multiple players who can share the load, exactly where they play.If we are to assume that Stanley will miss the next 4 weeks, then I'm going out on a limb and suggesting over that same 4 week period, Ceglar will be lucky to squeeze out 6-8 quarters of footy.

It might turn out to be that…but I have zero confidence he can back up from a game the week before (hasn’t done it since he arrived)…so I think high possibility. But if not this week then I am very confident we won’t get 4 weeks in A row out of him…so the question was posed to this smart group of supportersWhat gives you any indication that Ceglar has been named only to be a late out? Or you just making things up?
