How long can North keep going?

AFL offered them Tassie. They said no.
AFL offered them GC. They said no.
We’ve been through worse,
South Melbourne fans really gotta up ya trolling game. It’s a bit repetitive and lame especially from fans who let their club die and become a soulless franchise.

How can Clarkson’s ‘side’ possibly consider him to be ‘persecuted’ or ‘assumed guilty’?

He’s literally lauded every time he’s mentioned on AFL programming and it’s basically unheard of to publicly suggest he should be banned/step away from his position before a due process has been undertaken.

The leagues official SM pages were posting pics of him and Fagan hugging only a couple of weeks ago….and now conveniently the entire ‘narrative’ has shifted to faceless club blaming as a way of making sure everyone knows how rough poor old Clarko has it?

Now you have North Melbourne Super Fans like David King, pretending to be a journo, banging on about ‘destroying the fabric of the guy’.

Come on…

Considering how bad North's losses have been recently the media have been quite lenient on him, any other coach would be copping a lot more heat.

As far as this investigation goes the media have generally been on Clarko and Fagan's side and defending their right to have their say in the process.

Seriously? Is this the place to lay the boots in

They ******* got him. What a cooked country we live in, where you're now guilty until proven innocent, or should that be "mediated", and anyone who makes an accusation is deemed by the entire media as a "victim".

Absolutely cooked country.
Very true.
I am not a fan of Clarkson but I feel for him and Fagan.
What a horrible position for them to be in.

And he shouldnt have taken or been offered the role until then.... and when it didnt turn out that way he should have been knocked back.
He took the role before this came out

North should have done their due diligence

Hiring and supporting a coach who is later accused of cultural insensitivity and is willing to fight the allegations is one thing.

Hiring a coach who has already arranged a six-figure payment to silence a sexual harassment claim under NDA is another.

They still do have influence, which is thankfully less.

But what is the argument here? Do you think they should have more influence? Do you think the media skews left? Which would be a ridiculous assumption. The idea the age, a fairfax paper is leftist is absurd.
You don't read theage much do you

The AFL definetly botched the review on racism on the club

But also clarko seems to be a loose unit
In what way?

He’s a well known race baiter, regardless he doesn’t know anyway.
Big comment sir

I assume you can substantiate these claims

I think there's room for nuance when it comes to accusations. We don't have to rush to form a lynch mob for the defendant before the facts have all come out, but in addition, there is a great value in treating alleged victims of abuse with the sympathy and care we would give to confirmed victims. It is incredibly hard for people to come forward and speak about alleged abuse. There can be a lot of stigma, shame and guilt attached to it, and I don't see any value in making it harder for them to do so, or repeating the mistakes of the past where the victims of abuse were sneered at, ostracised or further mistreated. We don't have to treat the alleged victims as potential liars to presume innocence on the part of the defendant, at least in my mind.

I also wouldn't call the media woke at all. What they are, is opportunistic, unscrupulous and money-grubbing. If beating up on someone from the majority will sell papers, they'll do it. If beating up on someone from the minority will sell papers, they'll do it. Their goal isn't social justice, it's getting attention. They're a threat to all of us, regardless of political persuasion or identity.

The media are a broad church, from reporting the news to opinion. If you choose to limit your media consumption to what you want to hear, you'll feel satisfied.
We tend to forget the ICAC, IBAC type bodies dont have any of the rules of law, so the casual observer cant be blamed for thinking anything goes.

He's not laying the boots in, he's asking a legitimate question about North's future.
You'd have to say this hasn't been handled well by Sonja Hood and it was in retrospect a poor decision to hire Clarkson and defend him to the hilt.
Draftees don't want to go to North, they are perennial cellar dwellers, they don't have much money or many supporters.
They could merge with Tassy, retain and expand their supporter base and become a powerhouse club once more.

Very lenient in that regard - unusually measured really considering the expectations are quite low for this season.

The footy media have been VERY careful with how this has been approached - basically not speaking about the actual behaviour the coaches are accused of after the day the story broke - talking around the situation and now lamenting the process/painting Clarkson as a victim.

It does make me think how willing they were to throw Adelaide under the bus for claims of racial insensitivity at their infamous camp (a talking stick being used, segregating the Aboriginal players etc, pretty sure they even threw in a reference to not considering their ‘generational trauma’ on that one). All bets were off when it came to finger pointing and calling for people to be sacked.

Pretty easy to throw those guys under the bus I guess - they aren’t likely to bump into ex Crows players/officials at the next season launch/media wankfest.
