News Clarkson to step away from football indefinitely

Anyway I heard on the way home on SEN that Clarko has been very erratic, unsettled, only sleeping 1 or 2 hours a night and everyone could see he had major issues. So no matter what side of the fence you're on no one can coach like that, he did the right thing by pulling the pin and hopefully North can adjust and move on. Sometimes stuff like this can galvanise a club and I'll be tipping them this week.

I feel sorry for the supporters, I really do.
They should all have chicken soup :(
Has he been doing that for 30+ years?

What's the go with Blakey, doesn't he want the top job? I felt sorry enough for Ratts after the Saints booted him, now he is going to cop it again.

They probably wanted someone with experience. Given the options they had, Ratten was clearly the right choice.

It's a poison chalice either way.

After eight months of enduring commentary and judgement around his alleged wrongdoings towards indigenous players.

Clarko decides to take an indefinite break for mental / physical health reasons.

On the eve of a two-week 'indigenous round' for the AFL.

The master strategist does it again.

This guy Clarko knows how to flip the script, and how.

Now the entire 'indigenous round' will be tainted with a story about how the AFL's incompetence has caused this problem.

We get to enjoy two weeks of the AFL and their muppet media trying to run damage control on this story.

An all-time AFL coaching great, with four flags to his name, out of the game indefinitely, due to AFL incompetence.

And it all begins the day before their 'indigenous round'.

Do you understand how the real world works?

So many people in these threads, and it seems yourself included, live in some fantasy reality world.

And many live in a fantasy world where they think there is not extreme racism and abuse against Aboriginal people.

Wouldn't be surprised if Sonja politely told / asked him to step aside. After the strong showing last week. And publicly making it look like clarkson is mentally struggling

Clubs have done it before. Pies and Degs an example.

Wouldn't be surprised if evidence has surfaced that's not favourable either.

In any case I doubt Clarkson put his hand up and said ' I can't handle it' - not consistent with his manor in front of the mic.

Cover up one way or the other.

What did the "Degs" do, please don't say Tom Boyd...

Probably for the best.
Coaches these days shouldn’t be throwing chairs in rooms. Have to protect the players from this. Best he steps away.

Surprisingly against his happy, cheerful persona on the boundary line conveyed by North as a refreshing new look.

Of course there are, not sure how that is linked to what I said though. Do you think I fall into this category?

I keep seeing it repeated that this process/investigation has been unfair. I have not been keeping up with it at all, can someone explain what's unfair about it?
probably better asked in the Other Hawthorn Review thread, they're all on top of it in there.

That’s the spirit!

Another Masterstroke.

The roos cannot catch a break. They have number a 1 pick that goes back home after one season. Appoint a 4 time premiership coach with ties to the club who then gets embroiled in the hawks saga. My guess it is 50/50 if he coaches again and whatever the outcome of the saga he will be continued to be haunted by it and if he coaches again and will never be the coach the roos were hoping he would be.

Not at all but since I don't know you, only you can answer that. If I thought you were a racist I would call you out, not beat around the bush with some cryptic message.

Is it really necessary to slime someone as a racist (which I'm not) or a science denier (which i'm not) or as anti trans (which I'm not), simply to fuel your own narrative. I mean really this is disgusting and incredibly insulting. I'd ignore it, but I have to stand up for myself on a public forum. You should apologise. Despicable.

That's the far-left for you mate. This place is an echo chamber for these cookers.

Wonder who the leak is at North?

Usually the coaches half time address featuring chair throws is an ‘inner sanctum’ kinda thing…
Ratten wanting another shot haha

He should never have gone to a club in full rebuild, a turn key go option at this point of his career would've been wiser move.

The investigation would've followed him anywhere however.

That's the far-left for you mate. This place is an echo chamber for these cookers.

Ascribing 'far left' and 'far right' to people because they have an opinion that you choose to attribute as far left or far right, is exactly the 'echo chamber' that you're railing against in this post.

People are complex and fall into differing viewpoints based on their belief systems. They may fall into the conservative line of thinking, or 'rightist' mentality when it comes to a fiscal discussion, but they also may support a voice for parliament for Indigenous people, and fall into what is considered a progressive or 'leftist' mentality on said issue.

You denigrating and categorizing people merely because you disagree with their point of view, is precisely the same thing that seems to be upsetting you in the first place.

There are no right and wrong, or left and right opinions, just opinions. Don't dismiss them purely just because it doesn't align with your own belief system.

Those making snide remarks at North supporters are pretty ordinary. The Kangas are innocent bystanders in this and have been embroiled in a saga not of their own doing. Most clubs would have appointed Clarkson if given the chance. I reckon the Kangas have had a tough enough day, let em be.
