Yes. Are you too dim to understand the principle that the threshold at which governments are in trouble keeps climbing higher and may not even exist? Are you too dim to have noticed the follow-up post about state governments in general and Australian states in particular? You got scared of the facts and you're desperately trying to avoid engaging with them, because you're out of your depth.Really ?
You make a post supporting dans largesse with world bank analysis of federal governments.
The Airport would do anything to stop a train. Parking is very lucrative.

Fair question re: costs blowout.
I also agree that it should have been held in Melbourne, if at all. My preference at the time was not at all.
I think it is drawing something of a long bow to say that Andrews lied to regional Victorians to get their vote. He didn't exactly need their vote.
Elitist group those bowlers.
It will get done eventually. It will be at a point the freeway is a 24 hour carpark.Trust me, as someone who grew up in the north west suburbs and lived there for 30 years, the airport rail is a daily source of amusement among locals.
It's been being built or coming every years since the 70s.
I'll go to my grave in 30-40 years knowing it never happened.
More fool's gold for the Creepy Assumer, who is 'getting on with getting things done'![]()
My favourite response to them atm is "why are you so upset about it, you snowflake?" and you can actually see the vein on their forehead pulsating

I spoke to someone from Ballarat yesterday after this was announced. He didn't care about them being cancelled. He also said that the overall view of the people living in Ballarat was one of indifference. They weren't unhappy to have it, but at the same time, weren't overly excited either.
Plenty of people I know aren't happy about it. I live in Ballarat.

New Zealand and parts of Australia will do good.No matter what you think of it all, it is not a good thing overall for our international reputation for holding sporting events. (Even if no one else wants it either)
Hence we really need to nail the upcoming soccer world cup. We did an amazing job with the Men's Asian Cup, let's do even better with this one.![]()
again (because the other person didn't clarify) the quote I saw was that the break fee included the cost for someone else to host (ie QLD would be paying part of it) but if no one else holds it then maybe the fee is less (I linked the ABC news article)Reports coming out that cost to get out of the contract will be at least $1B. The QLD government considered getting out of the Games contract a decade ago and were told the break fee then was $1B. The Gold Coast Games went ahead at a profit
well, tbf theres not a lot of point focusing on what the vic libs do or don't do (as they are the incompetent opposition) so I think it is actually fair to hit Dan a lot.we'll find out what ends up getting done vs whats just promised and never happens
eg housing, infra etc
if we go looking
feel free to criticize a politician for trying to put a good face on a bad situation, as long as you do it every single time anyone does it
which will be basically every single press conference or media release ever
Someone made a good point this morning that I heard on radio. Who was going to build all of this infrastructure? They were of the opinion they were scrapped because we weren't physically going to be able to get everything done in the available time frame.
So do I, been canvassing opinions from family, friends, work colleagues, tradies today. Virtually no one cares, got bigger fish to fry in their lives than a (now) non-event.
These are nurses, academics, plumber, sparky, IT professionals. On weekends they're sports participants, volunteer helpers, etc. A few expressed mild fleeting disappointment, then on with life.
I suppose reducing all those plane flights reduces carbon emissions....Did you post this as a comment on the effectiveness of the Victorian Premier's efforts to combat climate change?
Cute personal attack for no reason. Did I upset you, snowflake?.as if you'd leave your bedroom to actually see someone IRL.
Don’t know, but Scotland is currently considering stepping in as host.again (because the other person didn't clarify) the quote I saw was that the break fee included the cost for someone else to host (ie QLD would be paying part of it) but if no one else holds it then maybe the fee is less (I linked the ABC news article)
Dan claims CGA begged Australia to host the 2026 games at the last minute. That turns out to be absolute crap. A Victorian government delegation secretly met with the head of the Commonwealth Games in London in late 2021 and pitched to host the games in regional Victoria. The delegation was told to go through the correct channel, CGA, which the government later did.
So the first lie has been exposed.
the $1b figure must have some reliability, it is quoted in the ageYou've just said it will cost $1b.
Were you lying?
Yeah the 2030 is spoken for, think it is somewhere in Canada. Centenary so could also be the last. I don't know if 2034 has been allocated/ bid on.Don’t know, but Scotland is currently considering stepping in as host.
My understanding is that part of the break fee goes to the city that steps in. It’s never happened before that no city has stepped in. My understanding is that the 2030 and 2034 games were already spoken for. I may be wrong
