Venues would have be be modified to suit to competition standard. They could build something like they did for 2006 at Parkville and then convert to much need housing after.
Somehow even with all the infrastructure except for an athletes village this was still going to cost $4b in Melbourne which is more than the last 2 combined.

You can post where you like. Just know that you have no credibility and are a massive hypocrite.
Don't worry he will still get defended on here.Wow.. if true, that surely cannot be defended in any way possible.
No doubt. But at more than double the price that Birmingham and Gold Coast did it?
Probably said it to get votes.Andrews is very untrustworthy man. Did he really want to have Commonwealth Games? Or just say it to get votes?

wouldn't trust mitchell or his poison dwarf mate as far as i'd kick ‘em. and there are times i wouldn’t mind a crack at the latter.

feel particularly for the athletes. and it has been a colossal f**k up.Probably said it to get votes.
Apart from athletes, thier parents and future illegal immigrants, who wants the games.
So now what are you going to do about it.
My favourite response to them atm is "why are you so upset about it, you snowflake?" and you can actually see the vein on their forehead pulsatingThe Dictator Dan crowd haven't had this much fun since the Covid lockdowns.
Slightly off-topic but the Comm Games, like the Olympics, are a chest-beating exercise for the larger, more affluent nations in both cases. There's several reasons Aus/UK/Canada beat up on everyone, and same with US/China/etc in Olympics - $$$, and the sporting conglomerates that support their teams, and fielding hundreds of athletes across all events, while the Lichtensteins (possibly a poor example) of the world celebrate if they can qualify a couple of athletes and send a coach who doubles as chef-de-mission and social media rep.
"Hey the US (834 competitors) won 167 gold, but Kiribati (1 competitor) failed to make a final in any sport. US wins international event again!"
(Substitute Aus for US in Comm Games.)

but really the outrage - add 'mock' in some cases. some peeps are doing hand stands with triple pikes over the cancellation of a sporting event well past its use-by date. there’ll be no planet on which to do anything unless we wake the f**k up. priorities!
Despot lolWhat a press conference with the Despot.
Another masterful collaboration of lies and deceit with zero contrition and responsibility.
Still seems to think ripping up the Comm Games contract will incur a penalty similar in size to a parking fine.
it covers most politicians. the exception being the greens and some independents, most notably dr ryan. the hypocrisy of peeps like mitchell and the mock outrage of peeps like credlin who are fundamentally climate deniers is wearing.Did you post this as a comment on the effectiveness of the Victorian Premier's efforts to combat climate change?

I spoke to someone from Ballarat yesterday after this was announced. He didn't care about them being cancelled. He also said that the overall view of the people living in Ballarat was one of indifference. They weren't unhappy to have it, but at the same time, weren't overly excited either.Yeah, because so many people on polling day based their vote on Comm Games!
I live in the Ballarat region, been discussing it at work this morning - virtually everyone happy with both the cancellation (assuming cost blowout is the only reason) and the fact there will still be money spent in the region.
Although still unclear if the proposed station opposite Mars stadium and Midland Hwy upgrade will go ahead, but stadium upgrade confirmed.
