Are they out of bed in W.A. yet?

I am waiting for the deal to be done. They can have their bacon and eggs or their avocado on toast when that's been sorted out. The longer they wait the less they get. Brady is ready and waiting and is holding the chips.

I have it on reasonably good authority that if we get pick 7 then West Coast will play ball for 2 and 7.
Way too ****ing much. If we get 7 we take it to the draft and laugh all the way to the premiership podium with our 3 top 10 picks.

The amount of times Sam McClure has said Harley doesn't want to go to Perth, I'm starting to think he might be his dad.
Sam may be a dick at times but his Dad was Geoff McClure who was a very good bloke who died far too young when Sam was 19. So I cut him some slack that Geoff is not around to slap him around the head occasionally.

I believe the whisper amongst recruiters is Haynes salary dump ( we pay $600k per year for 2 years) plus pick 7 for either pick 15 or 18.
We would then have 2,3,7,17 and one of 15 or 18. That gives us plenty to go after pick 1. And for those wondering - yes Harley Reid is THAT GOOD.

If we somehow secure pick 7, and if West Coast came crawling to us begging for 2 and 7 in exchange for Harley Reid, I'd be demanding something massive back the other way. 2,3, and 7 in this draft would be an astonishing haul that is only matched by the draft when Hawthorn got Roughie, Buddy and Lewis. They can keep Reid. I'd start planning cabinet space for a 4-peat of cups.

Chips for breaky?

I suspect Brady is set up in front of the couch with his bar fridge and snacks enjoying his own Summer of George.

Left over HSP?
LoL. I was going to respond with exactly that. Especially as my son and his mates had an uber eats delivery of HSPs at 10pm last night and our fridge is filled with the untouched left overs (they knocked over a bottle of rum while waiting).

We offer the following and its considered not good enough (the equivalent points of Pick 1 & pick 20):

GoDees potentially offer this and it's a great deal (the equivalent points of Pick 1 & pick 66)?

I wish people would stop talking about the 'points' involved in these potential trades. The points value is completely irrelevant in this circumstance as neither club involved in the trade will be using them for any father-sons or academy prospects.

I would certainly take 6 & 11 before taking our late teens offer if I was in West Coast's position. Curtin is almost certainly off the board in both scenarios, but 6 guarantees you one of McKercher/Watson/Duursma/Sanders/Curtin.

Sorry, not singling you out here, you're just the most recent person to mention the points value of trades.

Geoff was one of the nicest journos I've had dealings with.

Could we then do 17 + 18 to Geelong for 8? (or Adelaide for 10)

Then 2 + 7 for 1?

Go to the draft with 1, 3 , 8(or 10) , 56. And if we really like someone around the 20 mark, trade our F2nd.

I find them a useful anchor point as they are based on real life outcomes.

Of course to make a deal you only need both clubs agreeing to something irrespective of any theoretical points valuations. But when there are ridiculous ambit claims being thrown around all the time, some kind of tangible anchor point is quite helpful, for me anyway.

Points are a useful measuring stick for calculating the value of a trade though.

For example, the Fisher trade: player + 17 traded for 21 + 25. Using points, you can work out what Fisher is actually being valued at - in that case, the equivalent of pick 31.

I do think that points alone aren't that useful when we're talking about potential trades for pick 1, particularly since we already have the benefit of being able to work out roughly what particular top 10 draft candidates any high end picks will afford.

Teams still working on pick packages to move up in draft

By Peter Ryan

Hawthorn still eyeing off West Coast’s No.1 pick and working out what package might attract the Eagles, which means there is no rush to get the deal for Tyler Brockman completed as he might be an additional piece along with pick No.4 and other potential picks that could turn their heads.

North Melbourne are also in the hunt but won’t be parting with both picks 2 and 3 to get at pick 1 although they might eventually include one pick.

They are certain they will take at least two of the first three picks to this year’s national draft, much to the annoyance of clubs upset about the assistance the Kangaroos received.

North Melbourne are likely to see whether picks 15, 17 and 18 tempt a club with a higher pick.

Melbourne now have picks 6 and 11 and always attempt to get up the draft order.

Meanwhile, West Coast are yet to fully open the door on trading pick 1.

The equivalent is irrelevant.

Carlton lose a player and pick 17.

They’re now unable to select until the 21st pick.

Points don’t run around and kick a footy.

Neither pick two or three were assistance picks, so **** you you clown.

I'm sure it wasn't irrelevant when we originally offered 42 and Carlton refused, saying they wanted something in the twenties. Lo and behold, we came back with an offer that puts the value on him to be equivalent to 31.

As great as it would be to get Reid, we could solve all our list issues on draft night with the picks we currently have.

If we're about the we and not the me, surely this makes the most sense.

The Pies just won a premiership playing as a cohesive team, please tell me that Wardlaw, Sheezel, and LDU can't be the equal of or better than the Daicos brothers and DeGoey who are likely their best players.

You said that Eagles fans want a JHF type offer and then listed that as 2, 3, 15 and F1. That's over double the offer from Adelaide for JHF.

When North got that offer all of the other teams said that they would be crazy to not take it and are being delusional.

Meanwhile, North fans suggest 2, 15 and 18, which is a bigger offer, and Eagles fans call us delusional and request another top 3 pick, as well.

Its more than a little silly and if a trade actually happens then they are setting themselves up for disappointment.
2 15 and 18 is a bloody good offer. I don’t think anyone is turning that down mate

If we are in that position.

We can quite easily attain 4 top 10 draft picks via Geelong.

They would jump at 17, 18 and a F2 as an example with maybe something coming back with 8.

I'm not sure Reid is worth diluting 2,3,7,8.

We can pretty much hoover up the absolute cream of the Coates league in a single draft.

You would get McKercher, Duursma/Watson, O'Sullivan and Caddy with that hand.

In fact, I'd almost dangle the F1 at Hawthorn at that point and trade out of 2024 completely and just go all in on the one draft and start to move up the ladder rapidly.

2,3,4,7,8.

We get McKercher, Duursma, Watson/Curtin, O'Sullivan and Caddy.

If Clarko can't turn that into a finals side with the other list of young players, just nuke the joint.
Phil Davis was talking about the pressure too many young kids coming in at once can cause on the development staff. Thought it was an interesting take. I wouldn't really be wanting to bring in more than 4 kids through the ND
