Invincible on Amazon Prime.

If you loved The Boys and don’t mind anime/partaking in the occasional dark superhero content, I can’t recommend more highly giving this a try.

Plus, the dulcet tones of JK Simmons plays a vital part in this. After a monster 3 year hiatus where it built a cult following, season 2 is back this November.

“Wolf” (2023) BBC – SBS on Demand

Highly recommended.

With ominous music from “Sicario” (2015), scenes taking off “Risky Business” (1983) to Operas featuring The Marriage of Figaro to an overall theme that makes you feel your in presence of something special like “Silence of the Lambs (1991) Wolf is a 6-part crime thriller that is Not for the kiddies.

Might give this one a shot. I will say though, it will likely take several different shows to get over my visual aversion (read vomit on sight) of Iwan Rheon and Owen Teale. I have already seen Rheon in two other shows and my reaction has not changed.

Rusty, you have my attention.

Firing it up now.

For those considering CAUGHT. Don't bother, two full frontal 'big dick' showings in the first few minutes is enough to explain the vibe of the show.

Starting to get a little pissed off by these 8-episode seasons. Seems to be the norm these days.
Ahsoka has finished. So, too, has The Wheel of Time. Quite enjoying this one.

The Equaliser 3 is well worth a look. Probably the best of them so far.

Blue Beetle was junk. Even Susan Sarandon as the evil bitch couldn't save it. A little tidbit for you (or is it titbit?) - Susan Sarandon was once voted to have the best set of **** (seems **** is censored, so read jugs) in Hollywood.

I'm back for my 'Wolf' report.

I nearly gave up after four and a half episodes but I hung in there and it paid off. Not sure if the acting is meant to be deliberately bad by some actors but I made it through and enjoyed it.

Thanks Rusty.

arupist:

Equaliser 3

I like Denzel. One of the very best at his craft. However @ 69 years of age it is hard to recover from fights, bones get more brittle, your reaction times are just a bit off...in other words, the magic of television gives him the edge he does not get in real life.

I liked Eq 1, not so much 2 but will have a look when it comes out on Netflix but accept it for good fun only.

Delta Goodrem in a new movie "Love is in Air" Small goof. Have a look @ the fuel tank readings in the airplane she is flying......not sure exactly how far empty gets you!!!

Loving season 2 of "Welcome to Wrexham" such a feel good story even if we know the result.

Started watching, well, 1 episode of "Crossing Lines" (2013-15) American, French, German production on SBS on demand about this elite group of police working for the International Court of Justice.

All so very beautiful, the boys and the girls. Impossibly beautiful. Watched it for William Fichtner who i rate as an actor but these type of shows...meh.

Ahh, mate. I don't bother to look into the actor and wonder how old he is and whether he could do what he does on film in real life. If we did, Rocky would have finished after the rematch with Apollo, Rambo would have died in Thailand. The Expendables would not exist. And Arnie would have stayed in politics.

Denzel is exceptional in this character. I did get the feeling there would not be a #4. Agree with you on quality of #1 and #2

I watched a couple of seasons of Crossing Lines before my interest in the show petered out. It was OK for what it was. There are a lot of actors like William Fichtner who are very, very good, but never quite make it to super stardom. Then we have others like Robert Pattinson who is very, very ordinary and total hacks like Daniel Radcliffe, making sh!tloads of money. Go figure.

Just started watching season 03 of Glitch and whenever the security guard (Dustin Clare) from 'noregard' showed I kept on thinking he reminded me of someone. Just figured it out. Shaun Burgoyne!!
I could be alone on this though....

Bosch - Amazon Prime. I'm only halfway through the series.

Not my usual type of show but I've been quite engrossed in this /detective police drama set in LA. It's based on books (which I didn't realise) by the same writer as the Lincoln Lawyer (which I actually didn't enjoy).

Stars, Titus Welliver (you'll know him) and Jamie Hector the guy that was Marlo Stanfield in the Wire.

Each season is one story of ten episodes with some continuing stories throughout the series.

And to top that off, there's a newer series Bosch - Legacy with most of the same characters that is current with a new season just out.

Not much on at the moment. Came across an Australian show called Wolf Like Me. Set in Adelaide starring Mrs Borat. About a slightly overweight single dad struggling to manage an 11 yo daughter. A car crash introduces a woman who has a secret.

Not the sort of show that I would normally bother with, but I found it strangely captivating.

Enjoying The Winter King so far. A slightly different look at the Arthurian legend. And at it pace it is going, there will probably be a second or third season before I need to worry about giving it the flick due to the coming of age of Mordred. The focus at the moment is on the unification of the kingdoms and beating the Saxons.

season 2 of wolf like me just dropped, season one wasn't bad

did you know the dad is the voice of Olaf from frozen

Didn't know that, so I looked him up on IMDB. Seems to have done a lot of voice work, the latest being Dog's Life alongside Will Ferrell and Jamie Fox, and also Mrs Borat.

There is a re-make of Shogun due for release in Feb 24. James Clavell is one of my favourite writers. Was not all that impressed with the first Shogun mini-series, mainly because of casting Richard Chamberlain as Blackthorne. He was just awful. John Rhys-Davies made up for him a little bit, as did Toshiro Mifune as Toranaga. Hoping this new version will be a better representation of the book.

Still a way to go before we see the return of a few other shows. GOT Jr not due till mid year, apparently.

Just watched two movies with almost identical storylines - a nonagenarian escapes from a nursing home to go to Normandy for the D-Day anniversary celebrations to visit the grave of a fallen comrade:

The Great Escaper starring Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson
The Last Rifleman starring Pierce Brosnan

Both are slowish but moving stories. IMHO, The Last Rifleman was by far superior. Pierce Brosnan was excellent. This one, at least, is well worth a look.

One of the bigger movies around at the moment is Oppenheimer. I have said before, I think, that I tend not to watch biographies or narrow historical movies as I already know what happened. For this reason, I have yet to bother with this one. Perhaps someone who has seen it could tell if it is worth watching and why.

I did relent recently to watching Boudica Queen Of War. I enjoyed it up to the last half hour, since I knew what was going to happen. Considerably lessens the impact of movies when you know the ending.

Other historical movies such as Dunkirk are a little different because they focus on one or more particular characters and their experiences. The fact the Allies won the war and D-Day was ultimately successful (if you don't count the cost) does not detract from these stories.

"The Killer" (2023) on Netflix. "Execution is Everything!" David Fincher's film starring Michael Fassbender.

I enjoyed it! Will watch again and...again.

Quite violent, not for the kiddies.

# There are 9 references to something else you have seen on the small screen mentioned or highlighted throughout the film. What are they?

The future.

The Crown is back for its final season - out now
Squid Game Season 2 - on Netflix from 22 November. They dropped that in with little fanfare. Hard to believe season 1 first aired in 2021.

and

Reacher - Season 2. Starts on December 15 with weekly episodes.

Oh it is going to be a good summer!!

I have the Killer lined up ready to watch. Looking forward to it after your recommendation. :thumbsu:

Have just watched 3 seasons of For All Mankind (AppleTV Original). Not sure if it has been mentioned here before. Don't usually go for alternative timeline shows, but this one had minimal initial change - The Russkies were the first to land on the moon. The 3 seasons cover the next 40 years of the space race. Other odd changes include Teddy Kennedy winning the Presidency (still got into strife over a woman, though).

Interesting study of US vs Russia and the need to WIN the race.

Quite enjoyed it. There is a season 4.
