free kick on siren for a slight side push against Dusty that you should never ever pay at any stage. Then a made up 50 to bring him to goal line. We get smashed year after year by these maggots.

It was a hold on Darcy in the ruck contest.

To me the free was technical but there.

The 50 (putting the ball back on the ground) I don’t think I’ve ever seen paid though after the siren - it’s not really time wasting is it

At the ground here, this is the dreariest Richmond side I can recall since the latter days under Frawley.

Short odds to get their lowest ever score against Freo (lowest currently 42).

bau for us - every single week & the stats vindicate this
Umps will always find a way against Richmond.

Who can remember when the same thing happened against Richmond..

'common sense prevailed' no 50MP
'The umpires deemed Warner's decision to kick the ball wasn't at the disadvantage of Richmond nor did he hear the whistle signalling a free-kick.'

surprise surprise

Technically there. If the game was umpired with technically there frees every single contest would be a free kick. Would they ever pay that decision if scores were level in the last few secs of a grand final? The 50 I’ll concede was there if Dow knew it was a free and put it on the ground but the free was bs.

Those ruck frees you can’t complain about too much. It’s a lotto that goes both ways. You just kinda deal with it.

The last 30 seconds encapsulates the current state of the AFL and commentary. Ruckman grabs ball from the ruck and is tackled. Commentator raises their annoying voice in anticipation of a free kick which no longer exists. Then the stupid 50m penalty.

That was technically a 50m penalty, and that's the problem.

The purpose of that rule is to prevent time-wasting, but that's irrelevant after the siren.

Second, very reasonable for Dow to believe the whistle was because of the siren going - understandable mistake that the umpire should have the awareness to apply reasonable discretion on.

Just another example of poorly designed rules that make it impossible for umpires to adjudicate well. Every team cops it. Direct the frustration at the AFL's old boys club that don't care about investing in the sport's long term success.

Farcical umpiring against Richmond Round 8 edition.

How is it every single week we have like 5 free kicks awarded for by half time???? No matter who we play yet the minute all these other teams play someone else they suddenly give away many more free kicks.

Obvious agenda against the Tigers continues.

More to the point rules that can be subjectively adjudicated

how this rule is applied will follow the whim of the umpire (prob swayed by the scoreboard, the player, their mood)

Ump pays free kick right when the siren blows and Tiger player drops the ball thinking quarter was done rather than giving it back to Darcy

The umpire could have easily shown some common sense there and understood why the Tiger player dropped the ball ...... thoughtless officiating
A rule is a rule and common sense should not be a decision made by the umpire, as it is impossible to write down and it will vary from umpire to umpire.

Remember our Sydney game a few years back where a Swan kicked the ball out in the crowd after the siren when we got a free kick?

One ump said 50 while the head umpire overruled and said common sense.

It was technically a 50 MP aganist Warner too, in the Sydney game

But the Umpires are mind readers and know that for Warner it was OK, but not for Dow

Discretion against Richmond in both circumstances

surprise surprise

It is an out and out Richmond thing. Every single week. Doesn't matter where we play or who we have running around in our jumpers or who our coach is. We are targeted.

Why would the AFL target a bottom 3 team? Why would they want Richmond to be on the bottom of the ladder? Conspiracy needs to make sense
