Seems like patch notes are out already .. not sure how to feel about it.. thoughts?? 👀

ITS GONE LIVE ALSO! Just got it on PS5 = 1.7GB

So we can conclude Training mode, along with single player mode just never existed and they’ve taken us for a ride since day 1 🤣 I swear this mob never fails to deliver on failing to deliver.

This is where more transparent communication needed to be had. Pro Teams was the mosr anticipated mode in the game. People have waited 12 months for it.

Why not put out a tweet saying "Pro Teams mode submitted to platform holders for approval."?

And then when it was rejected, why not put out a tweet stating such and indicating that the May 28 launch date was no longer possible, instead of waiting until the last possible moment?

Looking at all the issues with Big Ant, some forward communication to outline issues would have saved them a heap of communication, made them seem transparent and instead of looking like they are trying to save face and now blocking a lot of people who are criticising them.

They've had a disaster class in PR. Other gaming companies should take a look at what not to do.

Why did this game release last year is the real question. Unless the AFL forced their hand, it sounds like they would’ve been better off putting two more years (so a release next year) of development into it and releasing it as AFL 25.

Because they’re money grubbing pieces of shit. They knew we’re all going to buy it straight away anyway, because AFL games are few and far between and because Big Ant had a pretty good reputation from doing a decent job with AFL Live years earlier.

We got scammed. The game wasn’t play-tested, and it was (and still is) missing promised features. But they needed more money so slapped a Triple-A price tag on it and threw it out to us as is anyway 👍

The final nail in the coffin will be if any of you poor souls have to fork out micro transactions for players.

Like you do know you can create these legends on their world famous creation academy and change player clubs in team management for free…

Blind Freddy can see they had too much on Footy Cricket Rugby and Tennis. Every single game got delayed didn’t it?

Maybe they should have stuck with footy and cricket ( which should be the easiest game since it is essentially cut and paste from 22)

Could have done Rugby and tennis later on?

Yeah, but, you can make more money selling 4 incomplete games for $100 each as opposed to selling 2 completed games at $100 each.

I hope one day there's a doco about 23's production, with developer interviews.

I do believe their platform excuse

I just also believe that pro team, along with the initial launch, is just so dog shit the platforms don’t want to sign off on it

I think Microsoft was onto something last year aye

No conspiracy’s here we are talking about the track record of 4 delayed games in 12 months that is the issue here. They may have legitimate reasons why pro team has been delayed but when you’ve bungled 4 releases this year and it’s mid way through 2024 and people are still waiting for a huge selling point for the game still it’s not good.

Unless you have a shooter or RPG game like Fallout or GTA for example that have longevity in playing most sports games have a very short shelf life. I mean within this same time frame of AFL23. MLB the show has released 2 games, F1 in a day or two will have had two titles release , NBA and Madden will be on track to have had 2 titles out in that time span also.

Balanced by those wearing tinfoil hats and holding pitchforks in the face of logical reasoning…
Why this time is it logical reasoning ?
Even you can’t be naive enough to believe BigAnt have never lied to us.
In fact, I’d argue there’s been more lies than truths.
They might be telling the truth this time but the boy who cried wolf, right ?
I have zero reason to believe anything they say. Their track record speaks for itself so I don’t think the tinfoil hats are with us my guy.

I understand the sentiment when going back to the initial launch, and the public dealings with Ross, but based on this year’s updates:-
  • some say they never announce upcoming changes when they quite literally did just that with the schedule back on March 7.
  • despite this, some are asking for more info, others are saying to not give dates so we’re not disappointed.
  • some people are saying they never hit their target dates, yet they have hit the first two dates on that schedule this year. (Making me think this latest update is close, and the reasoning is legitimate)

So ok, i can see why there’s skepticism from last year when we didn’t get everything on schedule. But this year we’ve gotten a much more playable game, and updates when we’ve expected them… so I choose to take the Twitter announcements and forum replies from JNT on their individual merit.

I don’t believe they are intentionally telling ‘lies’, and I don’t think the platform holder tweet is a ‘lie’ given how that process operates.

Approaching the lie angle is one thing, but most people are merely highlighting the incompetence and the arrogance of levelling blame at others.

Exactly that. Its not about being lied to as it is about observing repeated behaviours. Well done to them for releasing 2 updates on schedule even if they were a good 10 months overdue. There’s still the massive glaring connivance they exhibit even on their own forum/socials when they ignore 98% of their customer base. It looks like a melting pot of arrogance in defence of a pretty ordinary product in my opinion.

There’s really not that much blame in that tweet.
‘there is a short delay as we await approval from platform holders’

Only alternatives they have in that specific tweet are they leave any detail out of it (I.e ‘there’s a delay’) then most jump on them for not giving information, or they add more detail (I.e ‘after submitting two weeks ago we’re still awaiting approval from Sony/Microsoft/Steam’) making it more of a direct blame.

This I completely understand. I also wish we had everything as it was intended, on launch day… but it didn’t happen given the day one patch that screwed up everything.
Strangely, there’s still those that believe that patch was how the game was intended (despite the pre-launch gameplay videos we saw).

I think Ross moving off the forums was a good move, and I think JNT still answers what he can on their forum. There would be things he’s not allowed to comment on, so can’t.

The blame is in not taking ownership for the delay. They state the delay as they are awaiting approvals. As previously stated by others they should know the estimated time these approvals take and have given enough time in case there was any issues. Which again they have not done.

And to send a tweet out late the night before when they knew of the delay much earlier is poor form. Especially when old mate is so active on X pumping out some capture they have just done. Happy for people to defend the game (god only knows how they play it) but you cannot defend how poor Big Ant have managed this and other titles they have. All are delayed and come out in a terrible state.
