Love Robert Harvey, one of my favourite players ever, outside of port.

One of the fondest memories I have of him is from the 2005 season when the saints owned adelaide at footy park, with a 34 year old harvey absolutely CRUSHING the crows teams in one of the greatest games I've ever seen him play. If Port aren't in contention for a premiership, I'd rather see saints win it just for RH.

Anyway, forgive me, as I haven't heard anything about it (dunno if this is due to my ignorance or if there has been no official announcement), but is robert harvey really retiring at the end of this season? Please say 'yes' only if it has already been 100% confirmed.

LOVED it when harvey threw down a monster tackle on judd earlier in the season too.

Always good to read glowing words about one of our finest. No official word on Harvey yet, Ross Lyon has publicly stated though he'd like Harvey (and Gehrig) to play on another year.

Of course the decision's up to him, I think he's got another year in him but I'd like to see him go out on his own terms rather than being forced out by form or injury.

Who wouldnt say good things about him goodie - he is a champion on the field and a gentlement off it

I hope he can play on next year - but I would love to see Saints be able to win the Flag for him before he retires!

Saints are one of my fave teams but sometimes you guys fustrate the s----t out of me for this reason :p

i think he'll retire unfortunately:(

He's looked really good this year, but the last couple of games Harves has looked really tired (but he's not the lone ranger there)

im not a fan of st kilda at all but i reckon rob harvey is an absolute star. i think he may be a bit too tired (as said above) and may retire:( which will be a big loss to afl footy as he is one of the cleanest players out there.

Funny you should say that red white and blue cos we hate western bulldogs and we dont give a rats that you think rob harvey may retire cos we dont care if any of your players retire as none are ever going to be in the same class as our R HARVEY;)

oh yeah and a mr C Grant is a thug is he. (thats what i heard a saints fan call him). i came on here to see whats happening with the saints as my mum is a big fan and i saw this thread and thought i might say something nice but then i get that crap

While we're not exactly setting the world on fire, we're not entirely out of the finals race yet. Maybe, just maybe, he will retire on his own terms with that much coveted premiership... and I know I am talking remote chance here, but should we get there, wouldn't it be the most "fairytale finish" of his or anyone's career for him to pick up just about the only individual award that he hasn't collected - the Norm Smith.

I still hold hopes for us to finish with a "bang" this season and if not this season i am really hoping that harves will continue next season. I know he has a few quiet weeks but i am sure he would not like to go out injured So i hope his injury today is just minor and he helps us to victory over west coast next week and to the 2007 finals series

if he plays on which i think is about 50-50 i really hope for every1's sake he doesnt have a Buckley year and miss every game through being too old

End of 05 I thought he was going to hang 'em up . At the end of 06 season I was anxious awaiting news only to be so relieved he was going to play on. I personally think he is a viable proposition in the team to keep going , but then , I have never played 20 years of footy let alone at that level .
One thing is for certain , Harves is a dead set legend .

Didn't he also mentioned that, if the saints won the 2004 flag, he would of retired? I might be wrong, your correct about the end of 05.

Robert Harvey is truly a champion of the game and will be greatly missed by players and fans alike if he retires this year or next year. When we lost to the Saints in Subi earlier this year I was gutted but I was happy for Harvey for having a 350th game to remember (played very well in the match also). Gladiator I salute you.

Best of luck to the Saints this year, well done on bringing the dockers back down to earth.

Ps. Revenge on friday night
