And that’s the Olympics done for another 4 years. Assuming WW3 doesn’t happen before 2028.
God bless peeps.

She may have still lost, but if she's tired, that's the best chance of keeping a medal. Draft the leader as much as possible. It's that easy is it?

Haha he says that about everything.Good experience? It's potentially her last Olympics.
Agree as she didn’t look like she had any plans, like go hard early to get some points and try to hang for a medal or save herself and go hard late for the double pointsYou would think that she was gassed for that last race, because I doubt her tactic was to do nothing but ride around at a leisurely pace.
Kieren 2nd and 3rd was a great result, better than expected. Jess Hull was fantastic. To be fair in the last few days we only really missed gold in the K2, maybe Little in the Javelin was a 30% chance. All the other silvers and bronze were mostly as expected.Disappinting end to australias best ever olympics campaign. A few missed opportunities. None were taken in the last couple of days.
Must admit that makes me feel some sports are way overfunded based on the potential for return.Summing up pennies v podiums:

Many of us (myself included) had a bit of fun at the expense of Breaking (and then some people took it too far). But in terms of deserving serious criticism, we should only be looking at the prioritised programs which bombed out, and not making excuses for them.
Our hockey teams were about as productive and respectable as a pack of schoolies. At least we have a history of success there, justifying the investment in a way. Rowing hopeless this year, though the results will probably turn around a la the cycling.
But it's definitely time to cut soccer loose. Let the overexposed national teams sink or swim on their own! Same goes for rugby and basketball.
Soccer doesn't provide enough medal opportunities to be a sport lots of money goes into.
Making World Cups is what Soccer is all about not Olympic medals. The returns in just qualifying for a World Cup is enormous for both Men and Women.Soccer doesn't provide enough medal opportunities to be a sport lots of money goes into.
If the returns for making WCs are enormous, the FFA should have profited nicely by now and therefore don't need any special help from the government.Making World Cups is what Soccer is all about not Olympic medals. The returns in just qualifying for a World Cup is enormous for both Men and Women.
80% of funding goes to high performance, it's right there underneath the heading. It's a pretty simplistic comparison given that's money given to national bodies which have other responsibilities besides the Olympics.
A lot of those figures pale in comparison to what the AFL, an actual professional league with 30,000+ paying supporters per game, gets from the taxpayers just to host Gather Round.
Hockey dissapointed aren't we good?
Its been a great few weeks. Some real highs along the way with the Aussies. That's it for me. Thanks for the banter.
Make sure you all do the "memorable moments" thread.
