Must say I'll be fairly disappointed if we don't end up with a solid backup ruck. Soldo wasn't the answer to all our problems but I always worry about Marshall copping an injury.

I think Marshall is much better developed as a forward now than when we had Ryder, and Ryder's ability to win hit outs made our weak midfield much stronger. I was looking forward to having some more ruck options but it seems like we'll be relying on a Preuss type.

Obviously the hope is on Heath - he desperately needs to come on and show something at AFL level this year or he starts to move towards the delisted group. After 3.5 years in the system he can't just be playing VFL.

We will have the SSP period to have a look at the likes of Crossley, Pruess, Reid or whoever else as train ons. Heath is not that far away but still has work to do, if the No2 job opens up it might inspire him to really step up. At worst if Marshall goes down we ruck Heath & Keeler. The other option is take the risk on drafting a ruckman eg Dodson who is advanced and could possibly play the 2nd fiddle role relatively early.

I want us using king as the fulltime forward line ruck- ala hawkins.

That should help keep marshall more fresh than the last couple of years

Id assume so, i dont really care what they want. Id also happily do 32 and 47 for Macrae and Kemp now.

Gee, just had a look at Brodie Kemps 2024 highlights package, more than just a handy footballer.
Definitely a team player too.

The best thing about that is seeing him playing on guys the size of tom lynch.

Happy to pay pick 32 for him if he can do that (at least as well as battle can).

starting to like the idea of Kemp. 23 yo that missed his first season with an acl. Goes about it the right way, good foot skills and can take a mark.

Certainly makes sense. If we have to overpay a bit then so be it, it’s not like he is 28.
