You don’t think this contract length (considering he’s our captain and all) is a little suspicious.

So would you have preferred he signed a longer extension? Even 1 extra year would have had him turning 34 soon after the end of the contract, which seems a huge risk for the club considering his injury history, the sample size of players who can still perform at that age, and the number of players already committed on long term deals. Do you think the club was trying to get him to commit to a 3 or more year extension, and he refused? I mean, if the option existed, the wiser move would have been for him to get the extra year/s and then ask to be traded, with contract, to the Devils when the time comes. So no, not suspicious at all - good list management.

It does when he has forwards that actually know how to lead.
There is a reason he bangs away from 60, & that is because Sydney's tall forwards are not that great, particularly at leading for the ball.

What a bizarre year where we have two genuinely elite players openly known about likely wanting to get to WA and it's Jan.

Not the draft capital that concerns me; the the actual capital ie. salary cap is where it'll get sticky. Warner will be on something like 1.5 mil for 7 years; Kozzy would be a smidge more than half of that.

We might do okay over the next couple of years, but we've got a lot of great young players to retain especially as Tas comes in. We can't always be tightening the belt for the role players either, or we'll lose all our Acres-y tier players.

Well it is what it is. Offer him the opportunity to win a first premiership. If it's a huge pay day he's chasing we lose anyway unless we give some one up.

Kozzie is contracted and the Dees will probably tell us to piss off or pay up so much in picks that we could potentially Tim Kelly the club.

Either way it's a tough decision.

Chad burns leads all the time, lets not act like its going to be magically fixed when he comes here.

Part of the reason he is seen as so damaging is he goes for those 60m bombs and hits em, you take the good with the bad and theres a hell of a lot more good than bad.
