We had the excitement of Thilthorpe if he wasn't injured for most of last year so we got this to look forward again, also seemingly addressed our weakness in the midfield (not yet proven but it's look a lot more dynamic and deep with Rankine, Dawson, Soligo, Peatling, Draper, Curtin, Crouch and a bit of Rachele in there. Pedlar will be a bonus if he can reproduce that game he played against the Saints in the midfield a few years ago) and added 2 best 18 players in Cummings and ANB and 1 best 22 player (likely will be best 18 at end of the year) in Peatling so this has immediately improve our list significantly. Just need Nicks not to go "big brain" in selection of Murphy (sure if he dominate the SANFL for 4 weeks then give him a chance at AFL to see if he has developed his game), Laird (if he is struggling like Smith last year then he need to be immediately dropped) and Smith (don't select him). Also Milera need to prove he is over his major injuries from 3 of the last 4 years in the SANFL.

Make Finals this year and fix our Ruck weakness next year then I can't see why we won't be in premiership discussion in 2027, the rebuild of the list to premiership contention end up being 10 years compared to our usual 6 years so 4 years more thrown with the COVID-19 years and the amount of players turnover in end of 2018 and 2019.

Will Pedler ever be a full time midfielder, I don’t think so. Think we can develop him purely as a forward with spurts in the midfield. He was impressive in 2023 and proved he has the talent, hopefully the injuries he had will let him get the best out of himself.
We have a lot of options now in the midfield that we could have 10 players run through there and let a Pedler and others go in for 5 minutes a qtr to change things up

Peyton Manning What GIF by Gatorade

And that’s a pretty big slur on Reid, is that actually the case or has he just had injuries which happens?

Not 100% but believe he has had three injuries this offseason.

1. Corked thigh (in a contest).

2. Concussion (in a contest).

3. Lower leg injury - 8 days ago in match sim.

The club also came out saying he was going to be on a modified training program this offseason due to "disrupted scar tissue from a previous lower leg injury". Probably smart to have him on a reduced load this offseason considering how much they used him last season.

Yeah legit excited now. Most since 2017.
Agreed. I didn't understand the end of season hype in 2023 but I'm really excited now.

If all goes right we can sneak into the top 4. If this happens, and with the x factor we have, anything is possible.

I could be setting myself up for a massive fall but for ne, the list is starting to look really good.

It's about performance and game plan now

As for those who say don’t get excited - it’s just preseason - I say bah wrong - this is exactly the time to get excited.

Its all possibilities and potential right now - no scandals, no bodgy camp, no players being dropped, no terrible selections or coaching moves, just pure anticipation of what could be.

No team altering injuries yet (touch wood)

More so than a long time the list of exciting possibilities also fills the sheet.

Headlining are Thilthorpe, Rankine, Curtain, and the introduction of Peatling, Cummings and ANB.

But there is also a feeling Soligo, Fog, Hinge, Worrell, Keane, Michealany, Nank, and Rachele have more to give and are ready to go.

To round it out possibilities remain for Pedlar and Berry, while who knows what Draper may bring once he’s up and running.

List of Bond, Dowling, Cook, Edwards and Ryan and there’s a crop of depth if and when they get opportunity.

Hopefully we’ll see the transition from more experienced players to these youth this year.

Also if Dawson should be a lot better this year as well.

We all know we’ll be facing reality in a few weeks and it won’t be all rainbows and sunshine, so take a minute to enjoy the buzz and crack a smile on the possibilities 😀

I have been saying it for ages, Izak is Andy McLeod mk 2..plays so much like him when in the midfield
Been saying it for 5 years ....but still got pushback; "he's a small fwd only" ..."hasn't got the tank"

Even recently, posters not wanting Milera in the team .....injury has impacted him too much

Izak ******** Rankine :hearts: :hearts:

God I hope he stays fit this year, will be AA easily if does.

Curtain looking very impressive, he will be a monster in a few years.
We just have to make sure our systems are spot on where we can maximise the damage these guys and others can cause. With thilthorpe being an absolute monster that can clunk big contested marks, fog being a great lead up forward we now have Curtin who is close to 200cms but is very agile and will present a horrible match up for the oppo 3rd best defender. Then throw him on ball for a bit.

Izak is izak and has brownlow medal potential if he can stay fit. IF the coaches can finally get it right, we do look to have the players to push up the ladder IF all goes right

I remember andy mcleod just turning players inside out and was just so sublime with his skills. Arguably izak might even have andy covered in the skill department but he needs to keep his body sound so he can be as impactful. An absolute rare talent.

Age tends to diminish our thoughts on past champions ....I watched a game from late in Andy's career, and he absolutely "glided" across the ground, head hardly moving

I put Andy's career above Rankine's career to date ....but both have elite skills of finding space in ball-up congestion ....and Rankine is not close to his prime yet

The trade pick to secure Rankine from GC was a gift
