Back by popular demand. However...

There has been some aggro from publishers of articles in recent months about sites that copypasta their content onto other sites, particularly the paywalled ones, which could lead to fines and whanot for those that do it. Apparently there are copywrite laws for these things. As a result we can no longer have full articles reposted here, so if you come across something then please refrain from nabbing the whole thing and just post the link. Quoting a paragraph or two and linking the source is fine however, just don't get greedy.

Here's the updated site-wide rule: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/please-read-re-copyright-posting-newspaper-articles.1389553/

Here's an example of what you can do:

"If West Coast was the gold standard for how to operate, then Fremantle's arrival into the AFL in 1995 could be viewed as a series of cautionary tales.

Despite eight wins in that debut season, a series of poor recruiting choices meant they didn't play their first final until 2003."

If they believe that us not making finals until 2003 was solely due to "a series of poor recruiting choices" then I have a bridge to sell them.

Thanks for your understanding.

Cmon guys he's contacted until 2027 we are going to give up a lot to get him.

If he had 1 year left we might get away with it but it'll be at least 2 firsts.

That said announcing your price in Feb means he's 100% gawn
💯. To talk of the “price” before even the season has started is telling. Green was also talking to the Melbourne faithful , trying to assure them that their club is tough and know what they are doing etc..etc. Unless Warner nominates us (doubt we can get both) I reckon we see Pickett in purple next year.

*Just looked at the “List Management “ thread and see the above is hardly an original take. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I've never seen a club official talk so openly about a trade being possible for a contracted player.

There's plenty of talk behind the scenes but not public facing.

Maybe Green was hired during a club need to feel a win by installing a fan figure and not quite enough media training.

It’s unusual but I guess the amount of talk around Pickett both during 2024 trade week and ongoing felt obliged to respond to a media question.

It will be a similar cost to LJ and Bolton.

Two firsts and a second and stuff back to us that Melbourne don’t necessarily need but round out the total trade price around two firsts.

Pickett could play for ten years at a very high level so that's a fair price to me.

Any sign of the Hard ball gets pod returning this year at all? Maybe it’s being discontinued.
They're usually pretty late to start. I think they do an overs/unders episode just before Round 1 and then get going from there.

I'd be devastated if it was canned, those three have great banter and Rhino usually lets you in behind the curtain a little bit.

It seems that Dimma, Damian Hardwick, now coaching the GCS has found the decisions made by the AFL, for the pre season, do not suit.
He has complained that the fixturing for the pre season is causing a lot of injuries in games.
Also pointing out the fact that Sydeny played last night, Friday, and will play in opening round, Saturday night game.He also noted that Sydney we not able to travel home last night after the game.
Amazing how hard it all gets when it affects the teams from outside Melbourne.
He seemed pretty happy with what the Tigers got while he was coaching them. Most times 15 games in Melbourne and most at the MCG.
But does he have a point in regards to the number of serious injuries that have occurred this pre season?

It's hypocritical so let him blow his trumpet.

The only reason the Opening round shindig has been created because the NRL have got the Vegas game.

So the AFL wanted to create something to try and compete.

There better just copping there medicine and go back to the normal shit.

Or do what they did in 2013 and 2014 and split the opening round across 2 weeks
